newbie question - Post ID 130115
I have VSD and downloaded HTML to see if I could do some thing off the html code on an old site designed with VSD.
I copied the HTML code from the index page on the website and it loaded into html editor fine.
I saw where the images were and that there was a text block in the center of the page where it should be but I was unable to move or unlock this so that i could edit the size of the box that it was in. One problem with the old Page was that this text overlapped the image just below it. My site is www.brookehavenpottery.com
The page will be easy enough to redo, and I really need to update it with new and better images and all like that. I was just wondering why I could not edit that text and keep it from wrapping to the next line.
It's not a big deal other than I have not learned what can and can not be done from the visual design tab in HTML editor.
Thanks Wyndham

I'm not a big help with the visual part of the HTML Editor as it's not very widely used. Looking at your code it's fairly clean, you'd be better off learning HTML in my opinion than working with the visual side of the HTML Editor. Do keep in mind not to swap between the visual and code tabs of the HTML Editor also, as they aren't actually compatible and they will change the code on you if you swap from one to the other, making it difficult to keep it all positioned correctly.
There aren't as many features in the visual tab of the HTML Editor as there are in the Visual Site Editor program and you might be better off starting there if you're not into doing the coding itself for HTML & CSS. I realize this would be a bit of a setback as you'd have to start over from scratch to use VSD, but I think you might find that a lot more feature rich than the visual tab of HTML Editor. Your site doesn't have a whole lot on it yet, so I don't think it would take you too long to redo what you have so far.
As for the overlap which I see on a couple of your pages, that's all part of positioning, and once again if you're swapping back and forth at all within the HTML Editor between the Code and Visual tabs, you'll have a very difficult time getting that placed correctly.
I would definitely suggest giving VSD a try since you say you have it already, and see how that goes, you always have this code already to fall back on if you change your mind and don't like VSD so the only thing you have to lose is a bit of learning time recreating.
Good luck on it either way though

Thanks, I used to know how to code HTML 15 yrs ago and VSD is easier for the simple site I need so I'll go back to that. Thanks Wyndham
Today, I purchased the HTML Editor as part of a package. But, when I installed the program, and tried to use it, I found that the HTML is overwhelming to me so that I think I might be better off with the VSD. I would still like to insert videos, and I bought a program for this, and it would be nice to still use the contact forms. Can I do this with VSD? I already created a site at www.burgoslaw.net, and now I want to translate this site, and link it to a Spanish language site at www.burgoslaw.com. But, I am definitely a beginner.
Hi Linda, yes you can insert videos and forms with VSD. Why not download a trial version of VSD and take it for a spin.
I know you believe you understand what you think I said...but I am not sure you realize that what you heard is not exactly what I meant.

That takes knowledge of both html and css, which allow you to create pages without using absolute positioning, pages which may be designed to center in windows that are too wide, or reflow for browser windows which are too narrow.

Moved over from web resources.
