width: 1100px;
height: 745px;
margin-left: auto;
margin-right: auto;
margin-top:20px;
}Looking at the page, only the background colour shows.
It is probably something very obvious, but if I try to put some html in there is moves all the content downout of the wrapper.
Any ideas would be helpful.

Hiya Tone,

Nice site for sure, you've worked hard on it and it shows. Not sure if you are finished, but if so there's some 404 error pages on the site yet. I'm guessing you're still working on it so let me know if you want the rundown and I'll give it a good onceover and let you know what I find.

I looked over that code, and what I found was that your background image isn't in the correct location if I'm assuming correctly that the css file has this:
#roguesbackcolor {
background-color: #330033;
background-image: url(images/roguesbackcolor.jpg);
width: 1100px;
height: 745px;
margin-left: auto;
margin-right: auto;
margin-top:20px;
}

And when I put that image in the domain name it is not found:
http://www.queens-english-society.com/i … kcolor.jpg

My guess is you have it somewhere that you didn't know it was uploaded to. It needs to be right in the main images directory which is in the root directory, or you need to adjust the URL in the css above to match where the image actually resides. This would be my guess as to why the background isn't showing up.

I might also suggest you add a menu to your Join page as there is no return passage back to your site on that page at the moment. You may just not have gotten that far though so ignore me if you are still working on those things :)

Looks great though, love the style and the content is very interesting too. Great Job!

Hi Tone

I get a file not found when I try to find that image as linked in your page (images/roguesbackcolor.jpg). The problem is your actual images folder is named Images, which on your Linux/Unix-based host is regarded as a whole different kettle of fish. You must ensure all file and folder names referenced and linked to in your pages observe the correct letter case; if the folder is called Images then the link must have Images\imagename.jpg as the path, not images\imagename.jpg. File.jpg is seen as a different file than file.jpg or file.JPG or FILE.jpg or... you get the idea.

As a rule, I always use lower case for all file and folder names, which will annoy you because it isn't the Queen's English! However, it is a good habit to get into and no matter what your host runs you'll never have any case-related problems if you do things this way (Windows servers don't care about letter case).

You'll have to go through and modify your code to reflect the correct file and folder names and once done, that's a good starting point for your troubleshooting.

Good luck.

Thank you Jo Ann and Dave.
So much has to be done after upload, that couldn't be done in advance. But that Rogues' Gallery page really hurt the eyes when I saw it. Your kind remarks and offers of support are appreciated and I have no doubt there are a lot of tweaks, so all welcome. (Added to the academic types looking over my shoulder Ha! Hah!)
I will go off now and look at the case situation regarding file names/image names, as I do understand about lower case cose being the rule.
:cool:

OK The image now shows, and you were dead right - a cap "I" in the file name images. It looks better now:

Hey Tone, I'm digging the site. You've done a great job. I just hope I haven't made the list for massacring the English language, too. :lol:

Poor Bush. I get a big kick watching the videos dedicated to Bushisms. There are some very funny compilations out there.
CoffeeCup... Yeah, they are the best!

You have done a great job of that site!
For a non-native speaker of English like myself, who needs all the help that he can get, this a very good resource. I bookmarked it for frequent, future use!

Great site.

I noticed on page one the images aren't showing...still the capital I issue...also on the news page
I know you believe you understand what you think I said...but I am not sure you realize that what you heard is not exactly what I meant.
