I am afraid I am debating saying goodbye to Coffecup HTML Editor. I am not someone who uses code so having the ability to copy and paste was the prime reason I bought the program. I also do not like VSD.
I have an old copy 2010 and I have reinstalled it. A warning flag came up when I tried the program but it was too fast for me to read it. Nevertheless, the page loaded so I will see what happens but I have a feeling if the software is no longer supported I may be looking elsewhere.
Sorry chaps,
Roger

Sorry to see you go Roger, but the pros far outweigh the cons on the removal of that Visual Tab. VSD does a far better job of what that tab originally did, and the issues it's caused over the past few years with people swapping tabs between code and visual can be counted in the numerous posts on the forums here that those of us have had to read and help people fix and to try to stop them from swapping the tabs.... even though the message you get when you first do it CLEARLY states not to. So truly it will not be missed by many of us.
VSD is the replacement for that tab, always has been slated to be so, it just took this push to finally get people to make that switch that they should have done years ago already. CC has really no choice, the setup is no longer supported as they already mentioned so they had to take it out to make room for more "coding" upgrades and features that couldn't be done while that was in there. In the end it's a "coding" software, not meant to be a full visual software anymore. Years ago, with the older versions of HTML etc. and before CSS etc. it did ok, but doesn't do anything close to what VSD can do.
You should give VSD another try. Most likely you're going to pay much more than the cost of VSD and HTML Editor combined for a good visual editor anywhere else. And with the combo of both programs you have the best of both worlds when you need to check out what a code does, you have the HTML Editor and can see it first hand as well as tweaking your codes to put into VSD.
Just my 10 cents, but either way good luck with whatever you decide.

I can see where HTML Editor is good if you are a 'code only' person. I do both. One, by itself, just doesn't cut it for me. I think that many people doing Websites fall into that category.
VSD is O.K., but again, you can't switch back & forth between Code & Visual.
The sad thing is, even though I currently use an old version of Microsoft Expressions, I could install an old copy of Microsoft Front Page, and be leaps ahead of what CC is offering. I'm a CoffeeCup advocate, but NOT for their HTML, or VSD. I try them each time a new release comes out, hoping they have come into the current technology. I do keep hoping, but each time I've asked about a feature, I am told that they would have to rewrite the code to get it up to date. Well, how about considering a rewrite? You are usually so good at what you do! Please don't Hate Me!

Hiya Scooterman,
Although I'm sure there are lots of programs you can choose other than CC's I can guarantee you would not be leaps ahead of what CC offers by using any version of Front Page at all. The code they offer is no longer valid code, it is all deprecated code and is therefore quite far behind CC's software. Not to mention it won't ever be up to par. IF they are so good at what they do, why not ask Microsoft to update FP? Hmm... I wonder if you'd even get an answer let alone have them have an alternative that is cost effective lol.
I do understand your pain with the Visual Tab being gone from HTML Editor, but it's not like there isn't an alternative that has been there for years now. It's just a matter of getting used to a different program just like you would with anything else. Programs change, features change, every software I know has done the same thing along the years. Features come and go with everything, heck take a look at Windows and tell me you have loved every version it's done? Not to mention you've had to pay dearly to upgrade them.
I'm really sorry that the HTML Editor is not what you want it to be, but in the end, the offerings that CC have are far better than many of the options out there, not to mention that they are very very good for the price you pay.

Wow, you're leading a sheltered life. They did update it several times. And it IS leaps and bounds above. It's called Microsoft Expression Studio 4 Web Professional. Even the first version is awesome. Anyway, I won't go into detail on each comment as I don't think you would understand, or agree. I DO like CC, just not the directions of the HTML Editor, or VSD. I'm not a 'CODE ONLY' person. If I were, I may be working for CC. They do a great job of making inexpensive limited feature software. They fill in a great gap between Free and Professional Software.

Thank you Jo Ann for your explanation.
I have to say I feel let down by this decision. I appreciate coders are more into creating a website. I am not but HTML Editor offered me a way of making my website without getting a headache.
As I already mentioned I had a look at VSD but did not like it. But as my time-limit has expired I cannot have another look to see if it meets my needs.
My previous HTML Editor was deleted when I installed the latest edition. I have reinstalled HTML Editor 2010 build 323 and I will use this. It was the only download I saved so I would be most grateful if you could tell me whether there was a later one and whether I can obtain a copy.

If you really want to go back to a prior version, the one to use would be HTML Editor V.12 Build 375, which was released in July, 2011. I think you would need to issue a support ticket to get a download link.

Thank you Per.
I was wondering how I should go about it.
As far as HTML Editor is concerned - it did what I wanted. I have trialled other software but with large childish icons and limited offerings, when compared to HTML Editor, I was put off them.
I decided to keep a copy of HTML Editor until some other software that suits my basic, non-coding requirements appears. I will try the Support Link you provided.

Having said that, I still think you would do yourself a big favor by not giving up on the "coding" part of the Editor quite yet. Why don't you spend a day or two - or a weekend - experimenting with it. Use it with the "split-window preview" and try the various options from the main menu, such as you find under "Insert", "Format", "Tools", etc..
You will find that the Editor does most of the "Coding" for you when you use the various options like "Insert > Link" or "Insert > image" or "Insert > CSS Menu Designer" and so on...
I think you'd be amazed at how quickly and easily you'd get the hang of it and how much of the work the Editor will do for you. And meanwhile, you will see instant feedback in the preview window.
Give it a try!

Hi Per,
That is why I haven't completly washed my hands of Editor.
My first foray into HTML coding was when I wanted to insert Flash. I had some good help from CC.
It is just that, I am at a stage in life when I value my time. I do not want to waste it. A coded website may be a beautiful thing to some. To me it is a tool, a means to an end. I want to get it out there ASAP and be able to amend it whenever it is necesary to do so without any fuss.
There may be a time when I may need to venture into the world of HTML, but for the moment I will avoid doing so for as long as I can.
