Hi I am trying coffeecup for the first time. I am working in HTML Editor 2007. I am having trouble managing the table designer. I created a blank .html page as my starting point and then opened the table designer. I created a table and saved it. I went back to the blank page to put the table into it. I opened the table designer and opened the table and tried to insert an image into it. The errorr message flashed up at that point and entirely locks up my system (windows xp)and I had to do a reboot from the task manager to get it to close. I have tried 3 times now with the same results. I am also noticing that folders in the coffeecup files tab are showing up that are not in my computer's folder and that there are folders in the computer that are not showing in coffeecup.

I expect I will need to provide more info, but thats all I can think of. I am off to reboot and will try checking back later.

Thanks,
sara

Sara,

You might want to change your forum name by clicking profile. No need to have your email address visible for spammers to collect.

Have you tried the HTML 2008 pre-release version? It is possible that the table problem you have has been fixed. I will try to duplicate what you did, but I no longer have the 2007 version installed.

Thanks for the profile tip!

I can not download the 2008 version until I am a registered owner... and honestly the tables (which I use alot) seem really yucky. I can't drag and drop. I can't edit in the page window. (like merge cells) pretty basic stuff seems overly obscure. I tend to be pretty quick picking up new systems ( I have websites built in 3 different platforms and have to move between them) The site I am building now is on ipower with the most pathetic builder.. so I was looking for something a little more robust...

I see alot of good stuff here in coffeecup... but some problems as well..

Thanks for the reply ; -)

Sara,

Are you using the trial period for the HTML editor?

Personally, I have not tried to use the wizards, but I build my tables (when I use them) manually. I have tried other HTML editors, and found serious problems with all of them except this one.

Hi Bill,

I am using the trial. I got it day before yesterday on a friends recommendation. You are right, every system has its strengths and weaknesses... I tell my clients that ALL THE TIME ; -)

I think I am going to build the tables in another platform and then paste the code into coffeecup and clean it up there and then upload it.

One thing I have noticed in these forums.. often the answer when someone is talking about problems in the visual editor the answer is... write the code... so i guess thats where coffeecup's strength lies.

I figured out how to put images into the tables. that whole unlock and paste thing seems really weird. Anyone know the advantage to that is over plain old cut and paste or drag and drop?

I am using HTML Editor 2008 and I am getting the same error message. I was working on a table (7x7) with the size set for 100 percent. I change it to 500 pixels and promptly got the List Index error. I was using the table wizard, will have to shutdown the editor and try again without the wizard.

I found a work around, however, it may not work for you. Let me first list what I tried, but did not work, then the last part will be what worked for me.

Download the latest version of the HTML Editor, that did not work.

Copy the text of the html file into a text file, closed all programs, made a new html file, added the text that I had copied, but that did not work either. However I think the error was due to trying to work with tables, so I tried only copying and pasting text that I was previously working before I had the errors, but that did not work either.

I had already uploaded a working website to the web, so this is why it may not work for you if you have not done that, but if you have a back up, that should work too. So I deleted the index file that had the problems, and replaced it with the one I had posted on the web. Yes I lost the work I had done, however, that is better than starting all over from scratch.
My current website that is always under construction:
