Is there a way to cancel a cookies...

I am webmaster for a large organization. Every year the password into the members' only area changes. Members use the site only about four times a year (to read a members' only quarterly newsletters.)

I set up the password protection of the newsletter folder for the site and change the password into it at the beginning of each fiscal year. But I'd like to be able to include a "sign out" feature so the member could cancel their previously stored password information and not save it.

I realize there's usually a choice when one enters a password to save or not save it, but I'd like them to be able to cancel the "stored cookie" for that page if they wish to cancel it.

Is there any way? It would also be advantageous for me because I could then test passwords without having them stored. (I find that when I test a correct password, it's accepted, but then my testing is over. I can't try any other variables to see if they also work.)

Is there a way to add a "sign out" to my page?

I am including a file that will make it very simple for you to expire a cookie when they choose to no longer follow a thread or sign out.
You should be a ble to incorporate it in your code.
