Is CoffeeCup HTML 2008 Editor Really...
I've been trying to use this software for the past few hours, now I'm coming from the Adobe / Macromedia Dreamweaver school and am finding this product increasingly harder to get things done.
I seem to be fighting this software and am not sure whether this product is broken or just doesn't do what other run of the mill application can do.
All within the 'Visual Editor'
I create a table, but am unable to merge the cells within that table
I create a table with too many rows or colums and am unable to remove those rows and columns
I try to insert an image and receive an error message because the installation program didn't create a temp folder in the program directory
I fix this issue and then try to insert image again only for the image to be placed on the page in an absolute position and not within the cell in the table
I fix this by removing the absolute position details from the 'Code Editor'
I then try to add another image and it goes through the motions but does not add the image either into the specified cell or anywhere else on or within the HTML document.
I would like to give the product a fair go and after paying $129.00 for it I think I need to play more, but if the above simple tasks can not be accomplished in a reasonable amount of time then is there any way I can get my money back?

I'm a little confused. The HTML editor is not $129.00, so if you paid that much, where did you purchase it? Did you get other programs with it?
There is a help file that should explain how to do all of the things you are truing to accomplish, as well as some video tutorials (I believe). You can find these by clicking the "help" link in the editor, and choosing either the help file or the html editor online help. The online help (scroll down to view links if need be) will have a link for the html editor. There are video tutorials for adding images and working with tables. Review this information and see if maybe you were taking the wrong steps.

Maybe the Visual Site Designer would be a better fit for you? I'm no "code slinger" myself, but am learning rather rapidly using CC software. I would also recommend that you utilize the "trial" packages before purchasing future add-ons. I tried a small sample of the programs (didn't take much to realize that this is a goldmine) before purchasing the Developers Pack that has all programs in it. And although I have yet to implement the many add-ons to my web-site, it won't be long cause the CC software makes it so easy to work with.
Living the dream, stocking the cream

One notable improvement for HTML Editor would be to have it so when you switch from HTML Code tab to Visual tab (or other way around), the cursor would be corresponding to the location in the tab you just left. It's kinda frustrating to be in Visual tab and make the switch to Code tab to 'fine tune' something, having to scroll down and look for the reference...

Why doesn't the Free Version have the Visual Editor like the publisher's descriptions on download sites (and the videos on CoffeCup's own site) claim it does?
This makes the program very un-user friendly and makes one less likely to buy the real thing.
I have primarily used FrontPage for years now, but also like to use other programs from time to time for features that are easier to implement and create code in. I'm wary of this program because it's so crippled ... and because I've had problems with other CoffeeCup software that made me just relegate them to the storage closet.
