HTML5, W3C and me... - Post ID 151780

I've been off my computer for over a year due to medical reasons. Now that I'm finally back, I tried to find updates for my usual programs.

Needless to say, the programs are no longer available. I had forgotten that the CoffeeCup programs had programs one could update!!! YEAH!!

I have noticed that the W3C has the next form of HTML and CSS ready for use and the browsers were also ready for use. To prep for rounding out my knowledge base, I first went through the W3C draft for HTML5 and also bought a book for CSS3. Needless to say, I downloaded CoffeeCup's latest edition HTML editor. When I saw that the editor was still using self closing elements, I reread the W3C draft and found that self closing elements were unnecessary for writing code.

I looked and looked for the files that controlled the elements so I could fix this little problem, but was unable to find them. I would really appreciate the path to these files or at least having the program updated. I could really use these things. Also when looking at the CSS3 rules that are in a generated file, the rule from the W3C should be last instead of first so that if a browser supports the W3C it will apply this rule instead of trying to use a proprietary rule last.

Last note, by fixing this little problem or showing me where the files are, will save countless hours going through each file to correct them.

Thanks!

Gail Cohen

PS. I'm sure that I've been one of the earliest user of all of the fine CoffeeCup programs.

Not sure what you want, is it editing the actual tags? There is under Preferences - Customization a button called 'Open markup library'. Maybe you find what you are searching for there.

I found that if you run the code cleaner, it will remove the / from <br /> and similar. Is that what you were looking for?

Inger,

I believe that after looking at these files (HTML5 and CSS3) that I may be able to add the proprietary CSS3 styles for -moz-, -webkit-, and -o-. In a CSS3 style sheet these styles would come before the W3C style properties to account for the cascade.

If I am successful with this, do you think you (or anyone) would be interested in these files?

BTW, it took me less than 5 minutes to completely go through the HTML5 .tag files.

Gail.

I'm sure someone will be interested. I would anyway. So if you test your changes and they work as they are supposed to, maybe if you zip the files and post them? :)
