Hi.
When I ran Website Insigt on some of my sites I got a message to say the HTML wasn't validated. I checked using the HTML Validation function in HTML Editor and receive a message saying that the websites can't be checked. I've tried changing from HTML5 to HTML4 (strict) and transitional in document properties with the same result. The validator doesn't come up with validation faults it just says the site can't be validated. Clearly I must be doing something wrong but I can't see what. The same thing happens if I make a new page. Can you help please?
Thanks.

John.

There could be connection issues between your server and the software or a security program is preventing it from working. You can do it manually by going to http://validator.w3.org/ and either upload the file or paste in the URL.

Got a link? *wonders if there's an echo in here* haha

If you can give us a link John we can try it and help to know if the connection is the issue or not :)

the site is www.hayleyjanedance.co.uk
I noticed when I was looking through it just now that the character set is not utf8 would that make a difference?
Also another site I had a problem with has php on the first page and that fails to connect to the validator with #502 error. Is that because the page extension is .php instead of html?

Thanks.

Is there a specific reason you are not using UTF 8 char set? If not then change that so that it is correctly setup.
There are a few other issues with your site that you might want to run it through the Validators (HTML and CSS) to be sure they are fixed too.

Try running it through the Website Insight after you have fixed those few errors and let us know if that fixes it or not :)
