I thought that may spark some info... :D

Yes Scott, I may have missed out the 'Run as administrator' stuff, I guess its because all this has started since the latest release of the editor. It has locked solid in the background tonight. Twice..

The entire quote should have been...
'The problem is most likely coming from Norton, I can't make you uninstall or install anything you don't want to, but I can tell you from experience that anti-virus applications are more trouble than they are worth'.

I guess all the anti virus software is a learning curve, and one that I can' t afford to experiment with, financially that is...

I use windows7 64bit, and I have checked for any settings in Norton that are targeting the HTML Editor, there are none.

All I can say is that the editor is the only victim and it doesn't happen with any other programs.
No other programs are being run as administrator.

I do apologise for a crass remark, but somehow I felt my query wasn't being listened to, and just had a copy and paste fob off.

Maybe I had a bad day!

I know the programming is a big thing for you all, but I still think something's not right with it

Its a great job none the less :D

Just a thought....

Could someone say what a good unintrusive anti virus software program might be called ?

Ie, one which isn't bloated and does a good job

Thanks

As I mentioned above, I'm quite satisfied with Microsoft Security Essentials... ;)

There's a few free ones out there that are pretty good too. AVG Free is one of the better free ones, ESET also and I'm sure a few others.

I use PC Tools Internet Security as I mentioned above which has so far served me quite well for the past few years. Not free, but one of the better ones I've used so far. Haven't used Microsoft Security Essentials, but I've heard a few people say it's good too.

Stay away from Norton, McCaffee and CA for sure, the first 2 are bloatware and CA is just useless.

Okeydoke, Thankyou

I shall have a look.

I have just shut the editor down as I cant use it at the moment, its locking solid at every opportunity.

This frequency is new to say the least. all other programs, and I only use 3, are working fine.

Its a strange one

Thanks again

Peter

Ps, am not happy about my comments, but Hey Ho....

Just one last thing if I may, as I dont understand all of it entirely, but want to clarify...

This problem has JUST started after the build 448 update, its not as though
there have been any problems prior to that, over 'years'.

Thats really why I am enquiring, as its only just started happening, straight after
the latest release was issued.

I think when the next release is out you'll have that fixed (hopes so anyways). Hang in there Peter, it shouldn't be too long now :)
