My current website is created through Word press and I would like to delete it.
I want to delete it so I can add a new one that is created by a web designer. He will send me all the information so I can upload it to the web host.
I want to do this with coffeecup HTML editor.

Can somebody help me with this issue?

Thank you!

Your going to need a ftp app to log on to your host to delete the current content. You may want to just move it for now to a new directory so the new content can be uploaded. This can be done on your Cpanel also.:)
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

I would highly suggest you remove it via the way you added it so it doesn't mess up the settings of your cPanel (or like type setup). If you added it in there manually (went and downloaded the WordPress files and installed them yourself) then delete them manually, but if it was installed via a control panel of sorts like cPanel, uninstall it there so your server settings don't have a registered program installed that isn't there anymore and could cause you issues should you decide later to install WordPress again.

The page was done by one of the guys at my university. This guy cannot be reached anymore.
To get help from my web hosting site takes forever!

So tell me something. What is i delete is from my current web host and open up an account on godaddy.com and up load it there?

Will this be complicated or hard?
is it any page i can read about the process, or a video?

I'm new at this, so the more help i can get, the better.

Thank you guys!

Hiya Robert,

As much pain as it is to contact the web hosting, I would highly suggest you get in contact with them and get the ID and Password for the site if it's yours. If this is in someone elses name, you could end up with problems if there are difficulties with this person that is causing him not to be reached anymore. If there are no difficulties and he's just dropped from contact then you should be ok, but I'd still get in contact with the hosting to see if there's a way for you to get access to it.

I suggest this simply because without access you are going to be not only limiting your abilities with the server it's hosted on, but you always have that chance that someone else gains access to it and wipes it out on you since it's not in your name, or maybe they return and say hey what's going on this isn't the site that belongs here and they take it off. So many variables when you don't have control of it.

If you're unable to get control from the Hosting company, then ask them to remove the appropriate WordPress setup so that it's done correctly and through the server rather than just deleted. I know it's a pain, but truly it's a cleanup issue that if you just delete things it may come back later to haunt you if the server hasn't got it deleted in it's files too.

Just a suggestion of course, you don't have to do it that way, you're free to delete it all yourself, but make sure you find out what files need to be deleted first and without knowing what's there it's hard for us to tell you that, that's something you really should discuss with the hosting company.

I do have my password and ID

I asked for it so i could create some folders. I couldn't do that without this information.
Is this what you are telling me?

The login info will get you access to the site but is the domain in your name?

Also, that login info sounds like it's an FTP account so you'll need to find out if that's the default main FTP account or if the guy that was running it made you a separate one. If it's the main one, then you should be able to use that for your hosting access which might have a cPanel on it. Domain itself doesn't really matter if it's in your name, just if you have access to the hosting account itself to be able to uninstall prepackaged software or not.

All this of course is only valid if there "is" a cPanel setup. If not then I don't know what else to tell you, but you should find out where the site is hosted (not the domain name itself, but the server the site is being hosted on) that you are uploading all your files to. This is the place you need to contact to straighten out the information for the site and the login and to find out if/how to get into the cPanel if it's provided by them.

Hopefully that doesn't sound too cryptic hehe. cPanel is basically an Admin Control Panel for your hosting account and allows you to create all kinds of things behind the scenes such as Email addresses, multiple FTP accounts, install lots of different software and applications that are already prepackaged such as Wordpress and Joomla etc. if that helps any.

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
