Could it be this line that is causing the error?

<script src="http://html5shim.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/html5.js">
</script>

The doctype in Frederick's code is not html5, so why use this? Try removing it, perhaps? Besides, the whole line should be this:

<!--[if lt IE 9]>
<script src="http://html5shim.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/html5.js"></script>
<![endif]-->

I'm just guessing here...

And Scott, IE9 was actually released a month ago. ;)

The reason for this may be that you are using Large Custom DPI settings. You will need to change this to Normal DPI for the program to work. Here's how:

For Windows XP
Go to your Desktop, right-click it, and select Properties. Next, click the Settings tab and press the Advanced button. You will now see a DPI setting. If it is set to Large/120 DPI, set it to Normal/96. If you'd like to see this process in action, check out this video tutorial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AlhFUMcA … mp;index=0

For Windows Vista
Go to your Desktop, right-click it, and select Personalize. Select Adjust Font Size (DPI), located in the upper left-hand corner of the window. This will display the DPI setting. If it is set to Large/120 DPI, set it to Normal/96 DPI. If you'd like to see this process in action, check out this video tutorial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hqKk-nsa … mp;index=1

For Windows 7
Go to your Desktop, right-click it, and select Personalize. Select Display, located in the lower left-hand corner of the window. Then select Set Custom Text Size (DPI). This displays the DPI setting. If it is set to Large/120 DPI (125%), set it to Normal/96 DPI (100%).

Additionally, some Windows 7 themes change the default fonts to a nonstandard one, causing the issue described here. Change your theme back to the standard Windows 7 theme and see if that helps.

If the above does not help, we can manually turn off the Tips of The Day by following these steps:

1. Go to Start Menu and type REGEDIT

2. Navigate to this location: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\CoffeeCup Software\Visual Site Designer\Settings

3. Go to this key and double click on it. "Show Daily Tips Dialog"

4. Change the Value Data from 1 to 0

Now restart VSD and the tips of the day will be gone.

I just purchased the HTML Editor in May and am having the same error message (floating point division by zero). It happens when I use the slider bars to move across the page or up and down on the page in the visual editor mode. After that error message pops up, nothing works and I have to exit the program. If I don't use the Visual Editor everything works pefect in the code editor and preview mode. Any suggestions?

One culprit we have found is related to IE9. If you uninstall IE9 and go back to IE8 it seems to fix the issue. Our developers are currently looking into way to correct this.

Running HTML Editor 2010. But can no longer use as any attempt to open a project page in the visual editor tab results in a "Floating Point Division by Zero" error message. Tried removing and reloading software. This happens with any web page in any of my projects. Help???????????????????????

This issue is caused by a conflict with IE9. If you uninstall IE9 and go back to IE8 it will correct this problem. Our developers have already fixed this issue and we should have the update to the HTML Editor in the next few weeks.

After I uninstalled ie9 from my Windows 7 PC, Microsoft does not allow me to installed ie8. It says that ie8 is not supported on my platform. So, I guess I'll just have to use ie mode on my firefox browser if needed.

Has this issue been resolved? I am having the same problem. I don't want to go back to a previous version of IE, doesn't make sence that I would have to use an old program.

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
