"Access violation at address 00402B49 in module 'Coffee.exe', Read of address 00000017."

I have been a long-time user of The HTML Editor, since before I bought my first license in 2012.

I am getting the above error message in version 18.0, build 890, when I attempt to place an html comment from the sidebar. Once or twice, I had received the same or similar error message with other placements. I am on a Windows 11 Professional OS. I never had this occur under Windows 10 Professional with The HTML Editor version 16.1 build 808.

Several times, I have found that if I single click on another option in the sidebar, just to change the focus, I can go from that to a double-click on the comment choice and it will not error out on me. It doesn't work all the time, however.

I am getting fed up with this and just found out that my support for this version ran out less than 90 days ago. When I decided to look at an upgrade, I found that I would have to pay again and download version 18 again.

Looking forward to any help that can be had with this.

I would try an uninstall and reinstall. Otherwise try opening a support topic.
