Nothing against Inger but using projects is awesome! As JoAnn stated lets you see what you really need to see. It's no big deal if you only have one website but if you have 5,6 or even more it only makes things neat and tidy. I do a little side work for a few users and I have a separate project for their servers. I could really screw things up if I didn't use projects.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

Yeah, I understand that I should have gone over to projects, but there is the saying: 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it'. And I have never confused the sites I'm in charge of (some 20, I think). But I guess it's a bit stubbornness on my side... ;)

OK,

I will use images/picture and actually I have lately been dropping alt= and border'' unless I wanted a border. I will do as you say Inger about putting my site files that you sent ...well, they ARE in a folder that I unpacked right away when I got them. Should I put that folder into the left hand side of the editor?

And it's bedtime now, so I will print out what Eric said in the morning.

Goodnight, YAWN

Hiya Bird,

Don't drop the alt= in the image code, that's important. This tells anyone that cannot see that image (for whatever reason) what that picture should be if you put a nice description of the image there. Most of the time you can just name it what it is so if it's a picture of a sun just say alt="Picture of Sun".

This is good for SEO and HTML validation.

Thank you Inger and Joann and Eric!

First, Inger, Do I have to put each picture into coffeecup or can I put it in, in the folder?

It seems to me have an interesting conversation going, one that I need to pay attention to a, therefore I've copied everything to a word type document.

Next I need (and so does my tech) information directly about the physical reasons a file gets transfered from my computer to the server. Inger has gone over everything in my FTP and it seems to be in order. In fact when I upload a picture, the FTP says it's been done AND there is the outline with a broken icon inside where the picture should be. So it is uploaded. This is the pinpoint or crux of the problem.

Tomorrow I am going to upload the editor onto my housemates machine We have a house with two apartments. I will learn something then. If I can upload like I'm supposed to, then it's my machine. I will also test music files. Now, I have permission to use the softwear whenever she's not using her computer so I will be able to take care of my site.

Will I have to buy the softwear again because I'm on a different machine? If so I'll use the Free Editor.

Thank you all, good afternoon

Not sure what you mean by "Do I have to put each picture into coffeecup or can I put it in, in the folder?" If I understand correctly, you are asking about dragging the image folder from where it is stored on your machine to the 'resource browser' along the left side of the HTML Editor?

Do it like this: place the folder 'newsite' that I sent you next to your original web folder (assuming you may have called it 'oldsite') Then open the Editor and browse to the 'newsite' folder so that you have it open. Then all the files and subfolders will appear along the left side. When editing a page, open it from the 'newsite'. When creating new sites, save them to the same folder. When inserting an image, you click on the image icon in the Editor and browse until you have found the images folder inside 'newsite', then pick the image you want. If I were you, I would also add images you plan to use to that image folder (after you have made them the right size). Then the linking should be a breeze.

The broken image icon and the outline mean that the image is not in the right place on your server, or the path to it in the html file is not correct. That seems to have been one of your problems all along. On the page 'reviews' where you have made changes, it's the paths to the images in the html file that are wrong. Read again what I wrote above in my previous reply to you. But it should be easier if you place images in the 'images' folder before you start linking to them.

The licensed CC software can be installed on three machines for your own use. You don't have to buy another license unless your housemate wants to use it too.

Wow,

Now I think it's all ME that doesn't get it. Are things different with this editor than they used to be? Just 3 months ago I was putting images on my site. Anyway.....Inger, I just did what you said to get the folder of my new site into the left hand side of my editor. Then I went and took out the pictures that I just jammed into reviews teaching my tech friend how to use the program and what happened when I did.

I went back up to what you said before and what Eric said. Shouldn't the pictures say /images/ in front?
I notice they do not, just like I left them, on the reviews page. I understand that the broken icon means the paths to the images arn't right. But with the new website IN the editor...wouldn't that make them right? Or should I upload them all again. OH, I'm going to go try THAT.

It's 1am at your house, your sleeping away peacefully. Goodnight, Canary

Ok, I'm going to bed. I'm 1/3 of the way there. I can't find the Seabird Studio logo. Have you any ideas Inger? if not, I'll go buy another. It's a little cost for such a big project for me AND you. So when you see the review page, understand I'm changing the way it looks and just got too cold and tired to finish. Back at it tomorrow.

Love, Canary

I'm just about outta your hair!!!

Try 'transparentsmall.png' for that logo image. :) I see that you have got various things sorted now.
