It says because of MS DHTML security update KB891781. Is there a work around or fix? Or can I just not use it? It's hard to test the trial otherwise. I've never made a web page before, so it seems like that pretty useful functionality.

I'm disappointed that in a year and a half no one has answered this question.

I will revive the question and make it worse.

I get the same error message and I can not test the visual editor which is something I really want to use.

The real problem for me is that I am running Vista 64. the MD update kb891781 does not apply to my system and is not installed on my system.

If coffeecup wants my $49 someone should address this.

Ken,

You filled out a support ticket 45 minutes ago and I gave you all of the instructions on how to fix this.

What a horrible company we are.... Answering email at 10pm, 5 hours after we close and in under 40 minutes. You can't even get a pizza that fast ;)

For those interested, we have instructions on our Website on how to fix this issue here at http://www.coffeecup.com/help/articles/ … ditor-tab/

Also, officially, all of our software is supported under Windows 7, XP, and Vista 32-bit. However, many of our users are able to use the software with Windows 64-bit running in Windows XP Compatibility Mode. Follow these steps to set this up:

1. Right-click the program .exe file and select Properties .
2. Click the Compatibility tab.
3. Select the Run this program in compatibility mode for checkbox and select Windows XP .
4. Click OK .

Hiya Ken,

Might I suggest you also trial the Visual Site Designer if you are actually looking for visual editing as that program is much more equipped for it than HTML Editor is. If you're just wanting to see what the visual editor part of the HTML Editor is then nevermind lol. Also, be very aware that you are not able to switch between the code and visual editing systems to edit your pages in the HTML Editor, it's an either or thing as the code from one is not the same as the code from the other, and it will mess it up if you try swapping back and forth with it. Happy trialing :)

P.S. Just to make a comment on the not posting issue, keep in mind that not everyone comes back to tell us that they may have their answer through support or someone else, so sometimes even though it looks like they never got answered, they may have been fixed via support and just never followed up here to say so :)

Thanks for that, it is really interesting. I have a friend currently trying to install the trial and only getting the two tabs, Visual Editor is missing. This no doubt will help resolve the issue. For what it's worth, I am a happy user, running sucessfully on Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit as the machine was upgraded recently.

Good to know there is a place to go and ask for help if needed :)
