My HTML Editor is two years old (2008 version 10.0.0.267) and I like using both Code Editor and Visual Editor.

1) Does the newest HTML Editor, 2010 SE allow the same access to both code and visual?

2) In transitioning from my 2008 version to the 2010 SE how much will my existing website files be scrambled?

Hiya Gary,

I'm not sure how you're able to use both dode and visual editors with that version at all as it's not much different in that from the newer ones from what I understand. I used the older versions, but I didn't use the visual part so that's not something I can verify there sorry. I can verify that they dont' play well together now and any searching here on the forums will tell you that a million times so definitely not. It does have both code and visual though, just not recommended to use them both on the same pages as it will mess up the code on you.

As for scrambling... I don't see much of anything that will scramble, but... to be sure always make a copy of your pages and put them somewhere else and that way if anything does mess up (which I highly doubt it will) you can always go back. Do you still have a copy of the 2008 version? If not you may have to contact CC to get that back again.

I don't think you'll see any problems at all, in fact it's quite a nice editor with all the cool updates on it, it will be a little foreign at first but give it a try I guess and see.

Yes, I kept the CD of the 2008 version.

And yes again, I have read here that going back and forth can cause problems but I think I learned how to tap-dance around most of the issues there. But I will wean myself off the practice yet I'm afraid it might take a 12-step program.

So I just need to double-check I've got everything backed up.

Thanks for your help Jo Ann.

Just remember the first step... We admitted we had a problem :P lol

You're quite welcome Gary, good luck with it and as long as you have backups and you have the CD for the old version you're set to go, can always go back if it's not good for you, but I think you'll like it. Holler if you have any questions on it :)

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
