Anyone else having issues of the most recent build of HTML editor , nothing else running on a AMB Athlon x2 w/ 4 gigs of memory and my windows 7 box every time I load the editor it starts into a non stop load issue where my cursor turns into a spinning while (AKA Hour glass) ... my task lists shows the editor at 24 to 40% of my CPU.

Really unusable in this state.

Anyone else have this issue?

Thanks!

I am having the same issue when attempting to load an html page for editing. I double-click the file, the "hour glass" appears and nothing happens. I have no other programs running, the performance tab indicates about 40% usage. After several minutes I have to ctrl-alt-delete in order to close the program.

Have either of you set the Admin Priv for it on that compatibility tab?

Here is an update to my Windows 7 issue with Coffee Cup ...

It may very well be isolated to me , but here is what I have done.

Quote from my response to the support ticket:

Yes , I am running a 32 bit Windows 7 box ( not vista ) as a administrator in it's default location.

I optioned the following:

1. Right-click the shortcut icon and click Properties.
2. Click the Compatibility tab.
3. Put a check mark by Run This Program as an Administrator.
4. Put a check mark by Run This Program in Compatibility Mode For: and ensure Windows XP Pro Service Pack 2 is selected.
5. Click OK.

And it seems to work "better" but then noted issues of FTP related issues / not able to change to any directory / etc along with "sometimes" getting the please wait spinning hour glass.

Now I am upgrading my Windows Home Prem box to a Windows PRO Win 7 box and will be installing the new Windows Virtual Machine / XP instance on the box. I will run Coffee Cup from there and I am sure all will be good.

Take care!

For those of you running Vista there is some cool pointers and Q&A on this response from the support team here at Coffee Cup -

I have heard of this, but the issue are so speradic that it is almost impossible to track, I would like to ask you some questions before we continue.

Do you know if you are on 32 or 64 bits?

Did you install the HTML Editor in the default location or somewhere else? If so where?

Are you the administrator on the account being used?

Where is the file that you are attempting to work with located?

I would also like to see if you can run the Editor as an admin to see if that helps. This can happen even if you are running as an Administrator, and it is caused by Vista / 7's very strict security settings.

To fix this, right-click the HTML Editor 2007/2008 shortcut icon, and select Run as Administrator. This should properly launch the HTML Editor for you. If it does, then great! You can continue to launch the program in this way, or you can go a step further and configure the shortcut to always run as administrator. Here's how:

5. Click OK.

If you continue having problems you may also need to set the application as an exception to Vista's Data Execution Prevention (DEP) feature. Normally if this is the culprit, you'll get a little bubble along the taskbar notifying you, which will allow you to set the offender as an exception.

One last option that could be the cause of this, and related to the DEP feature, is User Account Controls. This is the large window that appears in Vista asking you to "Allow" or "Deny" access to functions within programs. You can turn this off within your Control Panel > User Accounts window, along the left-hand pane.

All three options let you control your system exactly how you want and give you full access to do/run anything on the computer.

We also have a video tutorial that explains these steps. You can view it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8g4dYUat … mp;index=9

All good pointers, the only one I saw missing was to make sure your CC Programs are up to date also. Sometimes I see people trying to figure out what's wrong, only to find out later that they have a 2 year old version of the program hehe. That alone can be the main culprit if you're running on more updated versions of windows and have kept up with your windows updates (as you always should).

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
