This is extremely frustrating. I am certified in html and css. I can write a site in notepad, link to it's style sheet, reference images, etc. and open it up in my local browser and everything shows up. I do the same in the CC HTML editor and it refuses to show any style or layout, only un-styled content.

Interestingly, if I write the site manually and open it in the CC HTML editor it views properly. But if I have to write the site manually, what's the point of the editor?

There has to be a piece of information you are not sharing Kyle. Whatever you do in Notepad would be identical to what you could do in the HTML Editor. Are you referencing a stylesheet in your page? If so, is that .css file in the correct path for the Editor to see it?

Kyle,

I can write HTML and CSS as well and have done so in the Editor for 4 years... Any every time I have linked my CSS file and it has worked.

My suggestion would be the same as Scotts. Make sure your style.css (or what ever you name it) is pointed to the correct folder.

So your html file is in the Mywebsites folder your css file should be in a css folder inside the mywebsites folder.

Make sure your path is css/style.css

Also, make sure you name and save your files. If not, you may risk such problems.

If that doesn't work, take a good look at your css file to see if you can spot any errors. If there are any, they are usually there.

From someone who is 'self-certified' in html and css and started out with Notepad in 1996, but who discovered the CC HTML Editor in 2005 and has never looked back. ;)

Another thing you could do, of course, is uploading your files to some place and let us have a look.

The hiccup seems to be when I use a relative path and the CSS is in another folder (example/example.css) It works with an absolute path and a relative path where the CSS is in the root folder. For purposes of this rinky dink (and urgent) project, it will suffice. I'll look at it later when I have more time.

Hmm. Can't seem to edit my post. But I do appreciate all of the quick answers. If curious, this is what is so "urgent", http://www.diamondsofdallas-cdc.com. I mostly build template designs for CMS sites now.

I have nearly always created a css folder for my style sheets, and linked to it in the HTML Editor, no problems with that. I downloaded your web page and the suspended.css to my desktop, stuck the css file into a folder css, changed the code for the referencing, and it worked fine.

It must be something with the way you are doing things that prevents you from linking to the css files. If you tell us step by step what you are doing, we may be able to tell you if something is wrong.

Nice page, BTW, but I wouldn't want to be one of your non-paying clients :D

If you style sheet is in a CSS or Style folder make sure you change all the links inside your css to correspond to the new directory.

And also be careful with upper and lower case. Some servers like to treat CSS and css as two different things.
