Some Files Show, Others Don't?

I searched for this in the forum and didn't find this problem - it may be an unusual problem:

I'm trying Free FTP. On the remote server, all folders and files show.

On my local machine, all the folders show, and a few of the .htm files show, but most of them don't. None of the .dwt, .js, .css and other files show up.

Is there a setting I can't find that is doing this?

Under "View" try checking "Show Hidden Files".:)
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

Well, that seemed to be a reasonable approach, so I tried that - "Show Hidden Files" was already checked, so I unchecked, refreshed, checked it again, refreshed.

And now, the few .htm pages that showed no longer show.

I've checked in the folders, and inside them, the .htm, .pdf, and other files do not show.

I do see a couple of .doc files.

I've checked with Windows Explorer and FileZilla and my files haven't gone anywhere - just not currently visible by Free FTP.

Is there something else to check?

Thanks.

Now I've exited the program and reloaded it.

Now those few web pages show again, about 2% of the total.

And the .doc files are not visible... along with most other files.

Adding to the mystery ...

I had Version 4.3, build 1815. I removed that and installed version 4.4, build 1904.

Results are the same. All the folders and files show fine on the server end.

On the local machine, all the folders show, almost all the files don't.

Are you logged in as Administrator?

No, I'm the user on this machine, but not the administrator. If that makes a difference on what files I can see, that is strange, isn't it? Expecially when I can see a half-dozen .htm files and not the other 200. If being the adminsitrator were an issue, wouldn't this have been a prevalent problem?

Then again, we're dealing with computers here - the illusion of precision, the reality of fickleness.

This may help -

My local files are all on a server in another room. Free FTP seems not to see files on that server, but when I point it at folders in my internal hard drive, they show up. It can see the ones on the internal hard drive - not on our local server. Does that nail something down?

There you go. I don't think direct ftp can see files over a network.:(

That would be an answer then.

I imagine there is some function in the system that made it unable to also see files on a network. Yet it seems a basic enough need that there must be a way to deal with it. Other than that, I like the program. I'll suggest that be addressed.

Thanks to bantering this with me - at least it led to an apparent resolution.
