Is there any way, using the latest DirectFTP to upload only those files which you've changed? Or do I have to do it manually? Right now it seems as though I kind of have to upload the whole darn site each time (mainly the files folder). Like if I add a link and a photo to my Links page.......it would be great if it automatically knew that those were the only 2 things I changed and could upload them, so I didn't have to either go looking for the specific photo in the files folder to upload, etc......

Does the ftp on VSD do that??

No stand alone ftp client is going to do that. You're in the driver's seat and should know what files have chnged and need to be uploaded.

Hiya Tanya,

If you're using VSD, you should be using the internal uploader within it so that it will then do what you're wanting. As far as I know anyways it's supposed to upload just your changes. It does take a little bit longer to do this since it needs to scan each page to check for changes, but this does then just upload only the things that have been changed.

An FTP program isn't connected to any other program to know what you have and haven't changed or even what it is you're uploading, it's just sending files which is all it's supposed to do for the most part.

Use the internal uploaders in the CC programs to be sure you're getting the best chances of getting all your files uploaded correctly, and in this case getting just those things that have changed so you don't have to keep track either then :)

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
