I am having a problem with FTP 6.2 that won't go away. When I try to log on I am unsuccessful after waiting until the program times out trying. Sometimes it does log on but only shows 1 folder but no files and clicking on that folder does nothing. I have tried passive mode as well but no change. If I manage to get logged on then uploading or changing folders usually results in the program just hanging. I have already uninstalled and reinstalled with no help. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

OK, a really stupid question I am sure, but have youtried another FTP program just to make sure this is not an issue with your hosting company?

Thanks guys, it wasn't firewall and yes I did try other programs. It turns out that I was not in passive mode and didn't know I needed to be. Works now. Now my question is why it takes so long for pics that I upload to be visible. Clearing cache, history and cookies and/or restarting the computer doesn't help. Even other people I talk to can't see the newly uploaded pictures sometimes for as long as 48 hours. Is this a powweb issue?

You are not alone in this. There are several reason this can happen. You have already mentioned about cache clearing etc, but unless your browser, or those peoples browsers who are viewing your site, is set to check for new page updates automatically, then you will often see the old page displayed. Even then, it does not always work.

My old host web space did this to me. They said they could see the changes I had made, but I just couldn't. It did not matter what I did.

I did put an auto refresh command on my home page (this will only really work if you don't have any dynnamic content). I set it to refresh every 2 miniutes. That helped other people viewing the site.

This is a strange one. Perhaps Adam can come up witha suggestion as to why this is happening to you?
