Error connecting to Internet to upload

Using XP home with SP3. Celeron (R) CPU 2.40 GHz, 2.39 GHz, 2.0 GB of RAM. Program on drive C with 55.4 GB free space. Web pages on drive D with 35.9 GB free space.

Just downloaded Visual Site Designer (uninstalled free trial and ran registry cleaner before downloading paid version).

Hosting site - www.directNIC.com. Internet connection - Comcast high speed (cable).

Ran test and tried uploading (turned off McAfee firewall) and received the following messages:
1. "Error connecting. The program could not establish a connection to the Internet. Please check to see if you have entered the correct destination server, username, & password in FTP settings window. You should also make sure your modem is turned on".
2. "The program could not access the catalog on the server. Several things may be responsible for this issue, so you should try connection again later."

I followed the CC instructions as to entering the FTP setting information and rechecked it a couple of million times (well, it seemed like a million times :~).
I've waited and tried uploading and still getting message # 2. Obviously, I have an Internet connection or I couldn't be writing this.

Any help appreciated, but KISS please. I'm not a techie, I'm a little old lady.

Thanks, Ronile

Hiya Ronile, us little old ladies gotta stick together :P

You may need to open a ticket so that you don't give any private info here for your account(s). I'm sure they can help you get it setup in no time. It's most likely just a setting is not correct is all :)
