Is there any way to download perl/cgi and other scripts, etc., with file permissions intact? I am moving to a new server and it would sure be a help if files and their permissions could be transferred without having to redo the permissions in the new server by hand.

Mine have always remained the same.

Thanks for the response. I am moving my hosted web site clients from a Unix/Solaris box over to a Cloud running Centos. I would like to download files to my local XP Pro machine with permissions being shown in it. Possible?

Every time I have changed Linux hosts, I FTP'd the files and directories to my local machine and then FTP'd them to my new host and the permissions were retained.
