Direct FTP - Issues with editing file...

Hi, every time I try to chmod a file on the server, Direct FTP hangs. I have had to use FileZilla in the meantime to perform the task but I'd actually really like it if Direct FTP worked as it should. I am using a lot of other CC software and would like to keep using the FTP software aswell.

I know that I could use CPanel to edit permissions but there were too many files and I like to chmod them all at once. Such a time-saver. ;)

Any chance of someone looking at what is wrong? Or Direct FTP being updated in the future?

I'm on XP sp2. Don't know if that has anything to do with it.

Thanks for your time. :)

So, are you highlighting a bunch of files and trying to change the Permissions in one shot? I don't seem to share the same issue, but I only tested a range of 3 to 10 or so files at a time (& in Vista). Ha, as I type this, I try in my Comcast space and it's sitting w/ the hourglass now. Perhaps it's more specific to the hosting service involved.

The next version of Direct FTP is currently in Beta development and should be along shortly :)

Really? I have been waiting eons for this!

Have they fixed the issue with the program adding spaces between every line of code everytime you download a file to edit it?

I have had the same problem of the program hanging up on chmodding too. I had the problem on different hosts/servers and be it one file or many, it just hung up and I would wind up using wsftp to chmod.

How long has it been in Beta Testing?

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
