Correct information, authentication...

I have some problems with the registered version of Direct FTP 6.7.

I've tried logging in with the correct FTP information and settings, but I get this error:

The remote server denied login. Your username and/or password is not correct, or attempting more concurrent connections than the server allows. [67] Additional information: Access denied: 530.
Server has replied: [530] Login authentication failed.

- Why?

Hiya king,

Put a ticket in for this issue, it's not something that should be addressed on the forums as it's an account login type issue not a program help issue. I'm sure the CC team can help you with this quickly enough. Good luck on it :)

It might be your virus protection or firewall stopping the connection, so worth switching that off whilst you try and see if that makes a difference.

The other thing to try is using Passive Mode when you add your settings.

If none of those work and you are sure your settings are correct than a Support Ticket is the way to go as Jo Ann suggested.

It isn't a connection issue because the data actually gets there; the server is telling us what the problem is (or what it regards the problem is). I had one situation where a particular server denied me access with the right credentials, though that was fixed many versions of DirectFTP ago and it didn't give me this error, which means exactly what it says - the username and/or password is wrong. I would let the techs know via a support ticket; if you are 100% certain the login details are valid (do they work with another ftp client for example?) then it must be either the software or the server.

I have the same issue. I can log onto some FTP accounts with no problem. There are two I cannot log onto, although I can fine with DreamWeaver and other FTP clients with the same settings.

Very frustrating!

Same here Dances. Most I can log onto no problems but a few it gives me the username or password error and won't connect. I can use the exact same setting with another FTP program and it works

Just had that situation a few minutes ago.

For those servers, have you tried checking the box "Passive mode"?

Yes I always have it on Passive Mode....maybe I should uncheck it?

In my experience I have never used anything but passive mode; it seems every ftp server requires it these days.

I am unable to connect to an ftp site with any software. The ISP tech support says they are able to connect and that the problem is with my router or my firewall. I am running out of ideas. I am using passive mode and i giver me the following message.

The remote server denied login. Your username and/or password is not correct, or attempting more concurrent connections than the server allows. [67] Additional information: Access denied: 530.
Server has replied: [530] Login incorrect..

I have tried turning off my widows firewall and temporariloy disabling my antivirus (AVG free), all to no avail.

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
