5 - 10 second delay using Direct FTP

I'm experiencing a 5 - 10 second delay when uploading or downloading using Direct FTP version 6.5. It takes that long for the program to start the upload process. I'm not talking about the upload itself. I had no such delay when using version 6.2. I'm running Windows Vista Ultimate.

Is anyone experiencing similar issues? Anyone have a solution?

Thanks,

DH

I am having a very similar problem.

I am running Windows XP and experience a very sluggish overall performance. This is in every aspect of operation. I complained and was told that this problem was not really being seen by other users. But that they were looking at the log file I sent and hoped to improve the speed issue in the next release.

I do not want to beat up the staff as I have way to much money invested in their software to burn bridges. But I do want my software to work.

Bobby

p.s. Direct FTP 6.2 works great for me too. No problems there.

The more log files we can get the better we can help find a solution. As far as we can tell, this issue is very random and only an extremely small percentage has reported any issues. I am sure once we have more logs we will figure out what the cause is and provide a fix in a future build.

I am having similar problems. Very slow to display directory listings either after uploading or just when changing directories on the server side.
Again version 6.2 works great.
I am running on Windows XP.

val,

You may want to click on profile and change your forum name to something other than your email address, as a way to reduce your spam.

Have you sent a log file to CoffeeCup?

Same issue here. Slow to open. Also very slow to delete files off of server. The older version would delete them quickly.

Same problem here. Slow switching directories and editing files on the server side. Running XP SP2. Where are the log files for Direct FTP? Thanks.

Same problem. XP pro sp3, single user as admin. Just uninstalled, re-installed. Won't even connect to server unless in passive mode and server requests to not use passive (?)
I reported this Jul 28th, 2008. But want to add my voice to this thread.

Does anyone have a work-around? Would the free-ftp have the same problems? I know there is a newer version in the mix and I hope it adresses this issue.

To enable logging I guess you hold down the shift key while starting the program. I'll try that out.
I should have something clever to say... but I don't.

Oh, just re-read that David, the 1st poster wasn't having slow actual uploads - I am. Everything for the server is slow in D-ftp; but html ed is fast.

You could also see if it's faster with filezilla

I have XP-SP3 and have not had any problems thus far, sorry!
but maybe your server is dragging, I host with Lunarpages and Yahoo/ATT
But I always have a back up in case. I know it doesn't help your problem but it may answer some of your questions, Direct ftp update is in it's testing stage if you wish to wait. :)

Just to do a small test connecting to my server, almost instantly connected (split second)
