A friend and I are working on the same site, she is overseas! I have sent the entire folder which contains all files relating to the site, but she is having upload problems. She has overwritten her files with mine so has the latest version.

Some of the links don't work, the site is still under construction, but you'll see what's happening. The only perfect page is the one she has done from scratch her end!

Hi Janet,
usually x's that show up mean that the images are not where they are suppose to be which is in the files folder, I can't get into it but this may be the case, or try a resync.
Another thing is her set up the same as yours? for example if you had some images in the "my documents" folder and some in the pictures folder which is in my documents, well to make it simple that's where her images should be to so basicallt your both have everything in the same location. make sense?

Hi Bruzer, thanks for the help as always! Her set up is the same as mine, I have a folder in which I keep the website and all the images, when we do an update, we send each other the entire folder, nothing is taken from outside of the folder without being copied into it, if you see what I mean! Therefore, everything should be OK. There was quite a lot of rubbish on the server, plus a duplicate web folder, which I have now deleted. Seeing as she wants to start working on it from her end only, would it be a good idea to delete it completely from the server, and therefore she can do a clean upload?

We seem to have sorted it clearing out rubbish on the server, deleting the site folder, and re-uploading it from the UAE end!

Obviously my version of the site is now out of date, so if I now do a resynch, what happens? Does it update my .vnu file? Is a resynch supposed to resynch the site to my PC? Sorry to sound thick, but I don't know!

Hi,
I would think that if it all looks good on her side, then removing it all from the server and a complete fresh upload would cure the problem. It will update the vnu file that is on the server if you decide to just resync. What it does is resync what you have on your comp to the server. If you notice there is a php file on your server which you can view in case you ever need to know where you installed anything into VSD from your computer...:)
see what happens!!!!

NICE SITE

I'm with Bruzer, I think if you re-sync from your computer it will just send the files you have on your computer up to the server, replacing what your partner posted there. I'd use an FTP program and copy them manually to your computer from now on. A little more work I know, but probably a necessity when working with another person on same site, regardless of where in the world Carmen Sandiego is :)

Bruzer,
Love the new grphx... May actually use that line some day soon. I work with a couple of real @#@#!#$$ that need to be slapped around once in a while. Ehem, I mean High Fived ;)

OOh, hadn't thought of that! Do I just download the file to the PC from the FTP Prog?

What is the "Re-synch website..." command, and how do I find information about each of the commands? The Help PDF does not seem to have information about it.

Thanks,

Dave
