Where can i get basic info how to use this. I don't get even the simple concept of the text box and why sometimes the features work and sometimes they don't.Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Read the manual. You can usually access the manual from the menu.

At the top of VSD click "Help". Then click Help (pdf).
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
