Does anyone know what a vnu is and how do I get to it?

Hiya Charles,

The .vnu file is basically your entire website in a file that is formatted for use with Visual Site Designer. This file is to be protected with your life! hehe j/k but it's the most important file you will need for using VSD because it's the ONLY file that VSD recognizes as your website. It is not importable meaning you cannot put anything "into" it. It is what is saved as your backup of your site in a compressed form and loads into VSD for editing.

Unlike using code editors that accumulate multiple files for uploading etc., VSD creates all those pages and uploads them itself for you by extracting them 'from' the .vnu file.

Without this file, your website is gone as far as editing in VSD any farther. If you lose this file completely, the only way to edit your site would be to download each of the files and edit them manually with an html editor.

As for where it is, I'm not sure where it saves it on your computer, but if you've recently uploaded a website to a server, you should be able to find it in a backup folder on your server as it saves one there for safe keeping for you.

I'm sure someone else can help by letting you know where to find it on your own computer. Good luck with it :)
