What size dimensions should a web site be ideally? The only post I found on this topic was from 2007 and I suspect that screens have goten bigger since then!

I know there have been some more recent threads about this, just don't remember where.
Anyway, VSD created pages are static – they won't shrink/expand to fit the user's browser. I usually make my pages 960px wide. Over 1000px will cause a horizontal scroll in smaller screens (netbooks, pads).

You can make your pages as long as you want, but I'd do whatever is best for your content; maybe spread content over shorter pages rather than having everything on one never-ending scroll
