Webpage could not be opened

So, I've been drapping my feet trying out VSD (because most WYSIWYG tools I've used in the past tend to mangle code)...but I needed to do a quickie site so I thought I'd dive in. Got a number of changes done, saved the site, closed it (got prompted to save it again upon exit, so I did)...

...today when I attempt to open the website I get a nice little error dialog that says "The Webpage could not be opened".

???

Hubie,
This happened to me when I was first starting out..
I made a simple mistake of not having the index.html file in the right location. I think I had a wrong "starting directory" specified in my FTP settings as www rather than at the root level and this caused the error.. I can;t recall the exact fix, but do recall it was something simple to do with the location of the index.html file...

Today I'm experiencing an emergency and REALLY need someone's help. I cannot find an answer to my problem in any of the posted forum topics. (I've already opened a ticket.)

We've been working on a new VSD build for over a month now, and are scheduled to release our new website tomorrow.

We were just putting some finishing touches on some copy within one of the pages of our new site when all of a sudden a box popped up saying something to the effect of there being "0 Memory Available."

We thought we had too many pages open within the VSD program, or too many pages open in IE, so we saved the project as usual, and rebooted the computer.

Now, when we try to open this .VNU file we get an error message "The Webpage Could Not Be Opened."

We can see the preview of this file's homepage in the preview window, but it just will not open. All of our other .VNU pages for all of the previous versions of the site open perfectly -- except for the one we need!

The only thing we did a bit differently from usual is that some of the page IDs are rather long and hyphenated. We've noticed that version 6.6 doesn't let you add hyphens when created a new page, but will allow you to insert hyphens after the fact.

PLEASE HELP US! We are under a tight deadline and absolutely cannot start from scratch.

Many thanks,

Tim

Can't you use another .vnu file to get you close to having all the content back. VSD creates a new one every time you upload.:)
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

I think when you have 30 pages open, a message pops up saying you have too many or maximum number of pages open, so its NOT that

I have used very long page names url's with NO issues

I have never used hyphens, in VSD but i guess as i have hyphens in one of my url's that shouldnt be an issue

Have you trial uploaded to server, if yes, theres a back up on your server to download

I get the memory warnings on my old laptop. Tried clearing out a bunch of programs/files and running C Cleaner and IObit system care (clears out junk/temp files and frees up some space), but It's going to the 'blue screen of death' more & more often. Make sure you have all your important stuff backed up somewhere!

Have either of you tried right-clicking the VSD shortcut and choosing 'run as administrator'?
Also, try 'my_page' instead of 'my-page' and make sure you have no spaces in your page/file names.

Hubie, have you looked in your files (wherever you saved your site) to see if you have an index page?
In page settings you need to have 'index' typed in under your page name, and check the homepage box so VSD will know what to look for when it goes to open a site.

That's all I've got
Let us know if you all have had any success, or are are waiting for support. :)

C:\Documents and Settings\Terry\My Documents\CoffeeCup Software\Visual Site Designer\Backups.

This is where my backups are, dozens of them one for each save. Yours are probably in a similar folder probably a different name between Settings and My Docs. Just load the last by date and time, test and save.

CCleaner is a great tool but a system gets totally clogged. I format and reload the system every year. I use XP, best operating system. I have Vista on a Laptop and Win 7 on my wife's computer but programming and Site building I do on my XP driven P4 PC 500MB ram with oodles of disk space. I use EaseUS Todo Backup no worries Clone disk, Operating system, Files scheduled if required.

Sensitive data I have in Encrypted containers "TrueCrypt"

The only thing on a computer that is priceless is photos/videos, Emails, Data, and a copy of your software installation files complete with registration. Have that stuff saved and a clean install is easy.
