I've tried, looked and read but for the life of me I can't figure this out, it would seem to be so simple.

I created some text and want to assign a link to it. I click Use Link, in the last box it shows http://www.coffeecup.com

Replace that with my website right? No, I can't even leave it at the default website. I get an error message when I try to save the project, "One of your pages links to the following file but it do not exist" Exact message, not my typo.

Anyway... I can't browse to it because, well, that button seems to do nothing, I can't say OK because it just returns me to the unsaved project.

Please tell me what I'm missing.

I decided to forget the link and upload... I got... attached.

I'm sorry... maybe I'm just not doing this right but with the exception of the password lock box I've not gotten a single program to actually do anything useful for me.

Morning Robert,
When making a link in VSD, there must be a red boreder around the text, to do this you must highlight the text with the red border then you should be able to link it to where ever you wish. Is this the case?

Out of frustration I tried 4 times with the same settings, it finally just worked but I have no idea why.

I'm running Vista Business with all updates.

Sorry to be cynical, granted I've not tried to use every program... but on what I have been using I just keep hitting walls either in errors or in some simple feature that causes it to fall just short of being useful to me. My needs are rather simple I might add.

If someone can tell me how to add an offsite link I'd greatly appreciate it.
If someone can tell me the cause of the upload error so I can fix it, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks Bruzer, that did the trick on the link.

Any ideas on the uploading errors? It does eventually work, I just have to keep trying. It seems to be worse after an edit... If I save the project, close the program, open and load then upload it's worked everytime (so far).

What are the errors your getting?

Host Monster, look at the attached image from above. The program itself bombs and doesn't give any details.

Did you get your connection problem fixed with VSD?
Can you upload using an external ftp client like filezilla or direct ftp?
Also there is a new build as of a couple days ago.

The issue you're having with links has been experienced by others including myself.
Scott's last posting said that the issue is now known and will be fixed with another release late next week.

Hope that sets your mind at ease a little.
I know I can't wait for it!

A quick work around to the issue is to create a shape (a rectangle or square) and give it the same color as your background. Then add your text in the shape title area and then make that shape a link.
That seems to be functioning ok when linking to another site.
