VSD with Windows 8 - won't open...
I am trying to figure out if I have a hardware or a software problem.
On my Windows 8 laptop, if I don't open VSD for several days, many times I cannot reopen it - either from the desktop or from the apps on the start menu. So I have to open the install folder saved on my computer and reinstall then it opens fine.
Is something wrong with my month old computer or is this a windows 8 / vsd issue?
Thanks!

Hiya Jennifer,
Are you running the program as Admin? In other words, right click the short cut you are using to start the program and choose Properties. From there navigate to the Compatibility tab and at the bottom check the box that says Run as Administrator.
Then see if that solves your issue and let us know

good question. I just reinstalled yesterday so not having a problem again; however, I see the run as admin you are referring to and just closed vsd, right clicked to run as admin and it opened right up (but I'm not sure how many days it sat dormant in the past before having an issue)
I will keep you in the loop. thanks!

Okie doke, and if you do continue to have issues, you can then do what I suggested and set the shortcut permanently to run as admin so you don't have to do the right click and run as admin from the menu each time. Good luck with it

Jennifer and Jo Ann thank you both for highlighting this. I thought it was my laptop and was just putting up with it as haven't been making frequent changes to the site. Thanks again Suzanne

You're quite welcome, glad it worked for ya, enjoy!

I started having the same problem, and the "run as Administrator" worked for me. My question is why is this happening now, when it never required the run as administrator to work? Is this going to be fixed anytime soon, as this is a security issue. Thanks for any help/answers.
This is not something that needs to be fixed, it's a Windows stupidity and you'll just need to deal with it. There's no security issue involved here, just one that Windows "thinks" is there that isn't. You can't fix stupid... *points to Microsoft*

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
