VSD will not open - Post ID 127835

VSD worked fine for 2 websites until I added a new bundle. That included Flash and Photo Gallery.

After installing Fonts, Jukebox, Color Schemer, Video Player, VSD will not open. I use Windows 7. Have uninstalled and re-installed VSD many times and it will not open. The little window asking if I want to create a new, open existing or use a theme does open and the little box over on the right opens but the main VSD window does not open. Then it crashes and I get the error message that VSD has stopped working.

Help, please.

Might be an idea to take this directly to the CC help desk. Get yourself a ticket as I think a lot of us will be coming in with suppositions more than answers. But you never know...

Lucia at help desk responded but her "fix" didn't work. I have some important changes to make to one of my websites relating to care packages for the military in Afghanistan and I can't do a thing! I'm panicking right now.

I'll report when the fix comes through.

As an afterthought I uninstalled that last bundle which included Fonts, Jukebox, Color Schemer & Video Player, and VSD opens just fine. That's over $80 I spent on that bundle!

I guess this means the problem is with one of these other applications. I'll post what the help desks advises.

Anyone else figured out how to make these work?

I can't see how doing such a thing would have any impact on VSD. Those programs do not share any code with VSD. Installing or Uninstalling them would not have any impact. I really think there must be something else going on.

If time is of the essence, call into our office and schedule a phone support call with our techs. We can remotely connect to your system and probably fix this in just a few minutes.

Uninstalling each of those individual software pkgs did it. I did not test VSD after each individual uninstall -- just uninstalled the 4 of them at once. I didn't even reboot, just opend VSD and there it was.

I made my changes to the site so I'm in good shape now.

However, as a test I will install each of those 4 pkgs again to see what happens.

Well, I installed the 4 pkgs again and after each install VSD opened just fine. After installing all 4 I rebooted and VSD still opens as it should. No problems.

Scott, is it Gremlins?

I say format your computer at this point ;) Why did you have to reboot your computer? None of our applications require a reboot to use them. Did Windows tell you to reboot?

My ideas are pretty much at an end. I would still suggest you call into the office and let one of our techs look at it. Like I said earlier, these programs do not share any common code, so I something else is definitely going on with your system.

Just rebooted because I wanted to see what VSD would do. It opened just fine before and after the reboot. No message indicated I "should" reboot.

I will make time to call and let y'all snoop around on my laptop. I'd hate to have to format again although I do this about ever 9-12 months. Yuk.

Thanks for such quick feedback.
