VSD vs HTML editing - Post ID 122118

Hi Everyone,

I have yet another question. I know very little about HTML. Actually I probably know just enough to really mess things up but out of necessity I have had to "dabble" in it. I couldn't figure out how to insert "bullets" in VSD so once the page was finished, I did some research and found that I could edit the HTML and enter "&#62" to create a bullet. The problem is, now every time I make any changes to the website and re-upload it, the page with the bullets gets changed back to the way it was before.

Is there a way to tell the VSD program not to change certain code? So far the way I've been getting around it is to use a separate FTP application to upload the files manually and I just exclude that file from being uploaded.

Thanks

Jeff

Are you adding the symbol code via the html tool?
I know you believe you understand what you think I said...but I am not sure you realize that what you heard is not exactly what I meant.

I actually just opened up the html file in Notepad, made the change and re-saved it. Would using a true html editor help alleviate the problem?

thx

Ah...no. That is you problem. Editing the html file won't change the VSD page as it saves it in another format as a vnu file.

What you will need to do is go to the point on your page where you want the bulleted text and then click on the html tool in the toolbar at the top. This will open a pop up box for you to type in your html code for bulleted text.

Try this site http://www.w3schools.com/html/html_lists.asp which has lots of great tutorials on html code.

Ok, now it makes sense. Honestly I hadn't even noticed that there was an html tool built in to VSD. I knew that you could download the separate html editor but had not discovered the built in tool.

I will give that a shot. It sure will make it easier when I need to do site edits. Now I want have to keep going back and fixing all of those bullet points.

Thanks for the assistance. :)
