Hello,

I'm using VSD 5.9.4 and trying to upload my first shot at a website. Really just checking to see if the Flash Photo Gallery I've created will work.

I don't understand the questions which are being asked when I hit the Upload button. I'm being asked about my ISP. Specifically, FTP, username, pw and www folder. I can't imagine VSD needs to know my Comcast info. So this has to be pointed at HostRocket, who is hosting my site. Or no?

Username and PW I understand. FTP? WWW Folder? where do I find this information?

Hostrocket tells me that I upload to my public html folder and I'm live (should I be using the FTP instead? I have both available in the File Manager)

The folder /public_html and /www are usually one and the same. That's where you should tell VSD to put the files.

Normally the server would be ftp.yourdomainname.com, so if your web page is going to be at www.WilliamAllen.com you would normally tell VSD to go to ftp.WilliamAllen.com.

The web host provider should have given you a login id and a password for accessing the server.

Well now that all makes sense. Thanks for the help :)

Needless to say nothing is ever easy :)

I pasted the gallery slideshow code to my homepage, then uploaded the home page and the gallery to /public_html. 2 problems:

- The front page is there, but only showing the code, not the slideshow

- after uploading the slideshow, my CC photo gallery tells me that none of the files can be found on my home system - can't save again or upload again "files can't be found"

I weep.

Hi William,
If I may, try this for your gallery,
sense your using Visual Site Designer, remove the code you copied, and this time use the flash tool, (the one with lightning bolt on it) and make a box like you did using the html tool. now browse to find your galleries xml file. Now vsd will add all the nessesary files needed for your gallery and all you do is select upload.
Are you using Hostrocket or Comcast as your web host?

this can be used as an example to set up VSD's Ftp for HostRocket,
So in the WWW slot you would use public_html

w00t \o/ You guys are Gods. Well, that or i'm just easily impressed :D

I am using hostrocket as my host.

Still not sure why CC photo gallery can't find the files for the flash after I uploaded it. I hit preview or save and "can't find file..."

but I'm kind of stoked atm over my first web page!

Also, I now see that this is the first version (few pictures) I created, not the huge one it's supposed to be.

The one I uploaded was the huge one, using the flash (lightening bolt) I simply pointed this to a folder/file on my computer and it's there.

hmmm the plot thinkens

Well looking at your link you would do the samething, Photo Gallery asks for that ftp info for those who copy the the code into an html file, and upload seperately. With VSD it's all added automatically when using the Flash Tool.
Plot thickens alright ! lol

If I understand correctly, if it's not put into VSD, it won't be recognized by it, Uploading the Gallery files and folder is also used for txt links if they want to use the html made by the program.
