I read another post about it. What I didn't see what was a concrete solution. Is there a solution to making it work?
:o)

Hey there!

What post are you talking about, exactly? There's a lot of VSD threads around these parts!

David,
Does it really matter which post? I just need a straight answer/solution! At any rate, here's a link to the post:

Got any ideas to make it work? I use Gimp 2 sortware to create the images.

Thanks,
Thanita

Hello Thanita,

We've never had problems inserting transparent GIFs. Just make sure the image doesn't intersect with any other objects on the page (text boxes, other images, buttons, shapes, etc). As long as it's just on the background, the transparency will be displayed when your page is uploaded. Just keep in mind VSD doesn't show transparency while you're editing the pages. This is a limitation of the WYSIWYG control.

Well this may just grill you noodle...I just started putting together my site yesterday using VSD and ran up against the same issue.

Humor me and visit www.millsapmedia.net

See the logo in the upper left hand corner...that's an animated .gif and it is resting on multiple layers of shapes. If you go to the "about" or "contact" page you'll see the logos there as well. Yep, it's a see-thru .gif. However, the transparency did not work with a single frame .gif. What you see is a two frame (frame one cloned) animated .gif running in a continuous loop. The transparency seems to work if the .gif is animated. If you go back to my home page, you'll see that even after the animation stops the transparency remains.

I'm new to all this and just learning to crawl...html re-write was not an option for me...yet.

Cheers from the newbie!!

Yeah, I'm not sure what triggers the issue either. I put a leaf image in the middle of mine as a test from another user w/ transparency issues. It seemed to keep transparency on mine w/o any alterations:

VSD did rename the file, but the transparency stayed intact.

I failed to mention that just as the others, if the .gif is placed on a blank screen there is no issue. It only seems to occur when you place any part on top of another shape or image.

Cheers!!

Michael
