VSD Preview does not work
Hi I cannot seem to preview the website I am building through VSD.
I used Chrome and also IE.
I am running an i7 Acer on Win8.
Are there any settings to note to make this work?

Not that I know of. Should work. What error, or what is happening exactly?
Also, some programs have quirks. Make sure you are running as 'Admin'.

If its coming up with an error about objects intersecting, it might be mousovers or buttoniser bttons to close together
OR and object to close like a picture to another mousover object
Worth re spacing things further apart a little, or similar (ie) moving buttons away from header etc.

When I run into a program error, bug, my method is to go back to basics. So try this. Start a new web site just temporary. Load a theme and try and preview that. If that works then the problem is what you have done. As a site can be put together so fast with VSD save your site to another location then gradually dismantle it element by element until it does preview.
If the theme will not preview then you have install or other problems. You can always uninstall VSD completely then run CCleaner then do a clean install.
Its a matter of eliminating possible causes one by one. By experience I can say with all certainty that it will be the last thing you try

On the tab next to the Preview button is a way to set the correct browser you want to use. Click on it and the list should open. Make sure it is set for Chrome, but just from experience I find the Previews work better with IE.
Hey all, thanks for the references and replies.
I am still trying to sort this.
Chose Chrome under preview tab on the top.
Saved work before I tried to preview.
All processes run as admin.
Thing is, sometimes it works and sometimes, it just launches a blank browser page.
It's probably some settings as I switch between a few programs when doing my work.
Dismantling seems to be a non starter here since it does preview sometimes.
It's probably Windows 8 incompatibility with programs running.
Anyone else with the same problems?

Is the browser trying to load the page (spinning circle with win7)
I have always had the problem. The preview does eventually show but can take over a minute to do so.
It's ok at the mo'..... but I can make a minor tweak to a page and it sets it off.

I would still try and preview a theme, It is fast and will cut the problem in two. Software problem or user problem. Then go from there. You will spend more time using any other way. Remember divide and conquer. believe me. I do this with some of my programs that have 1000's of lines. Actually sorting programs work that way, divide check divide check. imagine a 1000 items, divide, is it in this half or that, divide 500 is it in this half or that. To solve any problem isolate what is not a problem gradually drill down to what is. Faster than you think and less frustrating. Any other way is hit and miss, and if it suddenly comes good you will never know the cause and it could occur again. Fixing problems at work for more years than I like to admit to taught me that, I wish I was told that at the beginning. I had to find out the hard way.
It is how to solve any problem. First, do not look for what is. First, look for what it is not.
I know how frustrating it can be and that is why I have added this post. Don't use the hit and miss approach, be logical.
