I am new to VSD and website programming, but I am getting good results with minimum effort. I have a question.
When typing text into a text box I can only place one space between characters or after a sentence (using space bar), when I would like two use two spaces or more. Why does this occur and is there a way around this?
Thanks

I have seen this also. Very annoying, there must be a reason.

There's two ways around this. Use a HTML box for the text or use a character the same color as the background to take the place of a space. I usually use an underscore.

I can't hear what I'm looking at.

HTML does it, so VSD does it.

Basically, because that's the way (uh huh, uh huh) W3C wants it to be

Hello,
I hope that I am not rude in saying the following. I have been using VSD for a short while now and it has been great. Unfortunately I have seen that it is not as 'Code-free web design' as it can be. I have run agains very basic things where most people here say 'you can do this with an HTML box'.
But I am sure the CoffeeCup people will improve that over time.
@Eric: I just love your idea about the underscore

Best regards.

If CC made the program do everything it can do with WYSIWUG we couldn't afford it. There's plenty of help and examples around that you can cut and paste to a html box. I don't know if you would still call that WYSIWUG, but it's not far from it.

I can't hear what I'm looking at.

The themes are what makes VSD so easy to use for those not versed in HTML; some people completely ignore the themes and start complaining when there's not a pretty website in front of them when they open the program up. Then when they ask for help, we say "you can do this with an HTML box." Then they complain about not knowing HTML, so we say they don't have to use HTML at all with VSD, just pitch out the $9 for a good theme with everything they want. Then they complain about having to pitch out nine bucks, so we say you have to make it yourself, and "you can do this with an HTML box" so we're back and the begging of the never-ending loop of the same-old complaints.

The true beauty behind VSD is that you CAN code something in, though I do agree that some more text functionality (bullet-ing, lists, tables) would substantially improve VSD.
Yahoo! SiteBuilder was a great WYSIWYG editor when it came to editing text, but I'm quite glad it doesn't work with Windows 7 and forced me to snatch a good deal on VSD when I saw it as SiteBuilder gave the webmaster absolutely no control of what went on server-side.

Point taken.

No offense to anyone here, but there used to be a pretty common saying in the programmers circles many years ago (and maybe it's still popular): if you try to make a program idiot proof, the world will make bigger idiots. I'm not saying anyone here is an idiot, far from it, but basically the way I interpret that is: if you try to make every function known to man in the program, it still won't be good enough.
I tend to "play around" with VSD, more than actually "use" it, but I find that it is a good blend of Easy Button easy, and flexible/powerful (functional) with the ability to throw some code in when needed. It's been pointed out MANY times that most every issue that has stumped a user, has been swiftly dispatched with either code provided from other users here, or a google search. It doesn't take much time or talent to Ctrl-C and Ctrl-V a chunk of code in.
I guess I'd have to say I'm on the bandwagon for leaving VSD pretty much as is, rather than potentially overloading it with too many bells and whistles. This doesn't mean that users shouldn't put in their requests for things, as that is the main gauge that CC has to see what is truly desired (and I think we all LOVE that about CC, that they actually take input from us into serious consideration).
