Is it really safe to disable the UAC?

Kind of defeats the purpose of UAC, and no other programs I've used have required such things. Hopefully, the next VSD and HTML Editor updates will be coded correctly, so we won't have to use such workarounds with Vista.

I had once heard that disabling UAC is like going back to XP (security-wise). Considering most people love XP and don't have problems in this department, it doesn't really concern me. However, as Cary said, it'd be ideal if VSD would work as is and not require either disabling UAC or doing the Run as Admin option.

Not for me. None of the many programs I use with Vista have required workarounds. I don't currently have the HTML Editor installed which I purchased when I had my old computer. I'm hopeful that the next update will change that.

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
