VSD export feature on the 5.9.4 trial...

Hello,

I have searched the knowledge base and the help forums. I have not found this topic...

I was registered and still use version 3.0.
I turned a friend on to VSD. She installed the trial for 5.9.4.

I helped her build her pages and set up her godaddy.com url and basic hosting package. She's ready to publish.

I cannot get VSD to get a good test no matter what permutation of ftp settings I use (firewall disabled) I know they are valid, as I can access through coreftp.

I thought I would be able to export html to a folder on her desktop and publish through coreftp. I cannot find the export feature in her 5.9.4 trial version.

I've resorted to pulling what precious few hairs remain on my head. *sigh*

She really digs the simplicity of VSD and would prolly pony up for the registration had I been able to get the product to function as I had 'advertised'.

Any pearls of wisdom would be oh so appreciated.
So here we are, She's frustrated. I'm frustrated. I'm going to have a triple Crown and Coke and pet the kitty. :D

Hi David,
set up the built-in ftp like so and see if it works for you:
server= ftp.website.com
user=****
pass=******
www=blank or /

3.0? was that a promotion with Cosmi?

Hello Bruzer,

Thanks for the pearl, but *alas* I had all ready attempted like a million times.

I can no longer remember, I think I was like 12 or something when I got it(j/k)... I'm considerably longer in the tooth nowadays. hehe

my godaddy account is exacly as you see it, you could try in the remote folder area -leave it blank and just the website name yada.com for the server.
windows firewall disabled as well?
any anti-virus? try it with all running programs in the background disabled.

Another Idea is if you use core ftp and can connect as you say then upload all the contents in the website folder, which is by default located in the "My Document" folder with name like mywebsite_website for example.

I had planned on doing just that. That was the immediate simple fix. My problem is that in version 3 you simply follow the menu tree: Files, Export and then choose your destination directory. I can find no such feature in her trial version. The help files and knowledgebase do not even elude to such a feature in 5.9.4.

*sigh* I ramble on now... The Crown must be kicking in. Suddenly I'm so calm. lol

I'm throwing in the towel for tonight and heading off for some shut-eye. Possibly tomorrow the 'puter fairies will have rectified my issue. One can only dream, yes? hehe

Sorry David,
there is such a place in 5.94, once you make your ftp, you click on save, and you save as whatever you name it. then let's say you had another website with different ftp settings, you fill that in and save it as well. now when you open a website in VSD you just go to the ftp connections and choose which host you wish to use. Sorry for not understanding...like this
