Hi,
I installed VSD on my new HP probook4720s using Windows 7 professional. VSD executes but stops when the tip of the day appears. Then I have to use crl alt delete to leaveVSD.
I have read former posts and run VSD as a administrator and uses the compatibility mode Windows XP servicespack 2.But that makes no difference. I also tried other versions of Windows such as Vista.
because on my old pc VSD runs under Vista without any problem.

I hope someone can help me out.

cheers
Henny

The reason this maybe happening is that you are using Large Custom DPI settings. You will need to change this to Normal DPI for the program to work. Here's how:

For Windows XP
Go to your Desktop, right-click it, and select Properties. Next, click the Settings tab and press the Advanced button. You will now see a DPI setting. If it is set to Large/120 DPI, set it to Normal/96. If you'd like to see this process in action, check out this video tutorial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AlhFUMcA … mp;index=0

For Windows Vista
Go to your Desktop, right-click it, and select Personalize. Select Adjust Font Size (DPI), located in the upper left-hand corner of the window. This will display the DPI setting. If it is set to Large/120 DPI, set it to Normal/96 DPI. If you'd like to see this process in action, check out this video tutorial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hqKk-nsa … mp;index=1

For Windows 7
Go to your Desktop, right-click it, and select Personalize. Select Display, located in the lower left-hand corner of the window. Then select Set Custom Text Size (DPI). This displays the DPI setting. If it is set to Large/120 DPI (125%), set it to Normal/96 DPI (100%).

Additionally, some Windows 7 themes change the default fonts to a nonstandard one, causing the issue described here. Change your theme back to the standard Windows 7 theme and see if that helps.

You can also turn the Tips of the Day off manually by following these steps:

1. Go to Start Menu and type REGEDIT

2. Navigate to this location: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\CoffeeCup Software\Visual Site Designer\Settings

3. Go to this key and double click on it. "Show Daily Tips Dialog"

4. Change the Value Data from 1 to 0

Now restart VSD and the tips of the day will be gone.

Can you please open a support ticket for this Herbert? We need just a bit more information on your system setup.

I am having the same issue. I am running Windows 7. I have checked DPI, ran it in administrator mode, and attempted to turn tips off. I am unable to locate the show daily tips in the settings folder.
VSD just freezes and I have to use task manager to stop the program immediately after starting program.

Hiya Wendy,

Since you already tried most of the tips given in this thread I would do the one that Scott suggested to the last one that already tried the tips. Open a support ticket and have the staff see if they can help you out. Good luck on it :)
