if you want a flash menu the programs that make them usually tell you where to put them and what to do with the code, at least mine does lol so that part shouldn't be too bad. The bottom menu as text links can be done with a footer setup. If you're using CC HTML Editor, try loading up one of the Layouts and you will see how the footer is placed on the page, and the css code that accompanies it. If you're doing VSD then someone else will have to answer this as I don't use that program other than to check some things for people, this might be more than just a few minutes check, but if no one else has an answer by tomorrow I'll see what I can do on it for ya :)

J R,

With VSD, just add your flash menu using the VSD flash tool.

For the footer, unless someone has a better idea, use the HTML tool. Just build the links using standard HTML using the HTML Editor, or even Notepad.

Ok.. But I want the coffecup menu to appear at the top of all my pages without putting it on every page.

Let's say I got a 100 page site. and I modify the menu by length or height (adding sub menus) . With VSD, I would have to change all 100 pages with the menu

Once I figure out the easy way to do that.. then I can do the same with the text links at the bottom of the pages.

I downloaded the CSS coffeecup program.. but CSS is very foreign to me.

I want to stay away from CC HTML editor, cause I would have to repeat the steps..whenever I made a change in VSD.

I don't know how the Flash Menu Builder works for the code, but the menu builder that I use you just put a set of code on each page, then anytime you change the menu itself the code you have on the pages already reads the new menu files. You just upload usually a couple files to the site where your menu is and replace them and it's done.

Not sure how the CSS menu setup is, but I would imagine it would be similar, CSS being the whole point behind it so that you don't have to change every page every time.

I don't know how the VSD system is, I don't use it. I use Likno's Allwebmenu's for making them, but it's not cheap by any means, nor free upgrades as you pay a yearly update fee so it's a give and take I guess. Allwebmenus will do what you are wanting though, creates the code to put on each page, puts it on the pages for you even so you don't have to, you just tell it what pages to link it to. Then any changes to the menu are automatic on your pages when you upload the changed menu files.

J R,

I don't use VSD much, but if you add the flash menu code to each page, when you update your flash menu, there are some files generated. Upload those files and that should update your menu on every page that has the menu code.

all the settings of the menu should be changed including width/height settings of menus when you update the main code J R. I'm not sure how VSD handles these things so don't shoot me if I'm wrong lol. I just know that when I create my menus, I link the menu to the pages with a specific set of java code that is the exact same on every page of my site. That code does not contain any actual settings for my menu, it just contains the linking information that tells the site to use this menu.

The rest of the settings are setup separately and when I update the menu it spits out I think 2 files, and I just upload those 2 files to the menu's location and it updates every page accordingly. That includes colors, sizes, styles, button graphics and sizes, names, etc and anything at all that I change on that menu.

But.. like I said, I don't know how VSD works for that stuff as I don't use it so unfortunately I am unsure how it is incorporated there.

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
