Suddenly, out-of-the-blue, VSD won't let me choose a publishing destination.

Publish > Choose A Publishing Destination

The window pops up but the "Manage CoffeeCup Accounts" button and the "Manage FTP Accounts" button is greyed out. A list of previous destinations displays briefly, and, at the bottom of the window, there is an indication that the program is "Fetching list of CoffeeCup destinations, but after a few seconds Windows closes the program and exlains it will notify me if a solution is found.

I haven't had to publish anything for a couple of weeks so I am guessing that recent Windows updates may be the reason VSD is having problems.

I do know that I can only run VSD as administrator or choose to run it in Windows XP compatibility mode.

Is anyone else having a problem like this? And is there a reason why there hasn't been an upgrade to VSD so it will work seemlessly with the latest Windows operating system?

This could mean your registry settings have become corrupted somehow. What we will need to do is clear out all your registry settings allowing the software to default back to the initial settings. Please note that after doing this you will have to add your FTP information again.

Download this file here at http://www.coffeecup.com/files/binaries/vsdfix.exe to complete this task.

That's a royal pain, Scott. When are you going to release a version that works as it should with Windows 7?

For crying out loud, Windows 8 is just around the corner.

Yes, I am upset because I know darn good and well, other than routine Windows updates, nothing has changed on this particular computer. I don't use it to download anything except software from your site. I don't even use it to browse any sites except your site and the sites I create with VSD.

Yes, there is other software installed but it was installed long before any Coffee Cup stuff and none of it has caused problems like this, and I don't have to run any of it as Administrator like I do VSD or change my compatibility mode to Windows XP so it will start.

You only have to set the run as admin once. That's still less then the amount of times I have to push the power button.:)
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

Yeah, so what? You shouldn't have to run as admin at all.

You're quite right... So why is it that I have several other programs (NON CC BTW) that I have to run as Admin, or in compatibility mode? My guess... MS

Well our software does not auto-update itself Stephen, so what was installed yesterday is the same that is installed today. It is always easy to point the finger and try to lay blame on one company when it really could be any number of issues that caused the problem.
