VSD _ way to retrieve lost website...
My website it up and running but the VSD files that I made it with have been deleted due to a computer problem.....long story.
Anyway, is there a way for me to 'take down' my website temporarily for revisions or do I have to start from scratch.

In the future CC plans to enable import of web sites into VSD, but for now unfortunately, it is not possible. To open a site in VSD you'll need the .vnu file that was created when you made your site.
However, you can downoad or open from web into CC html Editor or most other html programmes. But that will only be of use to you if you are familiar with coding...

eeeek, afraid that I would hear that. I seem to have only saved the shortcut to the vnu files when we moved things from one hard drive to another because I get a message saying that the "path does not exist..."
Well if I take the plunge into daring to download the site into the html editor (which I know nothing about), will I be able to put it BACK online in its original state if I'm not able to figure out the coding stuff. I basically want to change font colors so it shouldn't be that hard ....gulp!

Katin1,
If you download the html files to your computer and COPY them to a safe location, you can edit the files and if they don't work, you can use the saved files to restore to the original online content.
Another thing you can do is edit the file with the HTML editor, save it, upload it, and check it. If you don't like what you see, use the HTML editor undo feature to get back to the original.
The font colors are easy to edit. You will find something like #FF0000 for red, #00FF00 for green, and #0000FF for blue. #000000 is white, and #FFFFFF is black. That means you can make very fine adjustments in the color to get exactly what you want.

We are also working on a vnu backup option inside of the software as well. This will give you the option to store the vnu on your server.

Thanks for the quick replies...you guys are always the best.
Two additional (lame) questions.
1. How do I download the website files?
2. and Scott, any idea as to how soon that new backup option will be available? Will it work in my situation (so that I should just wait a bit) or only with files made from then on?
....looking forward to the shopping cart feature. My little website is getting lots of attention and we're becoming SWAMPED/ OVERLOADED/BURIED ALIVE and need to sell online asap.

To download your files, use any FTP application. We have a free one at www.coffeecup.com/freestuff
I can't give an ETA on the backup option but it is on my list to do as soon as we get a few other items out of the way.
