I was looking seriously on the forum for Flash Blogger but found some limitations which make it unusable for my intentions.

I'm currently busy with a website that has "dynamic" information. I want the client to update schedulers and such without my interaction. I thought if they were able to create a "blog" with the info they need on their site and are able to delete previous blogs, it would be very useful. (content management)

What for solutions I could use to add formatted "blogs" on their site which is accessible with users name and password?

Nobody seem to be able to react or maybe I did phrase my question unclear, but my workaround for this is the following:

My client sells software, give service, support and give courses.
They must update that information frequently in form of upgrade logs, course schedule's and such.

Instead of upgrading the contents of a page constantly, the page is showing the basic info and time- and version sensitive information is viewable / download-able as PDF.

This way they don't have to have access to VSD, but only have to FTP the updated PDF files.

Hi Dick,
I think as I was reading here that wordpress would be the way to go -all you would do is add a link on the website to it.

This is a repost of my unanswered resent question which magically disappeared.

I’m not sure if it is version relation or that I do something wrong. Hereunder a typical (my style) to update my site:
1. Open VSD,
2. open my site to update,
3. open the page to be updates,
4. add an image-link and a caption box,
5. save the site,
6. Upload

While uploading, VSD upload a WHOLE LOT of IMG_### and MO_IMG_### files. This can take a while because VSD do a whole bunch. After uploaded VSD prompt me do “Delete unrelated files”, which I never skip.

Every time I make a small change, the same thing happens. According to me this is not right.
It was never like that.

Any suggestions what might be wrong with VSD (or me)?

in a nut shell Dick when you make changes in VSD, there's a data file which is also made once you save your project, then when you go to upload your site it's wil go through all the pages looking for changes, when it finds them it notes it, and proceeds to the end, this will take a certain amount of time cause it goes through every page, but it's not uploading all it just uploads the page/s that have been changed . if you watch next time try reading the little window that show the process bar. hope that makes sense for you.
I thin if your using an image 2 or 3 times also it will copy that on the other pages and give them names like IMG_0 etc;

Thanks Bruzer. I surely will put some time in WordPress to see if it fit my expectations.

I think I do understand the protocol VSD is using for uploading. However, I never saw so much "traffic" going on for simple additions to a page. Maybe it's just me...

Dick Rikkengaa,

VSD also uploads a backup of the .vnu file. If something happens to your hard drive, you can get the .vnu file from your website backup folder.

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
