Okay, Bruzer, I have uploaded my test page to the following URL where you can see and test these crazy buttons yourself:

I should have explained some things in my previous post. First, ignore the Top, print, save, and email buttons along with the Adobe Reader button.

The two Web Support Group buttons in the middle function as they should. They are from the Web Support Group page, and that's why the text is bold and the color is orange.

The two upper buttons on both sides are supposed to be 20 pixels high for both the normal and mouseover view, but as you can see, they aren't.

The two middle buttons on both sides are supposed to be 20 pixels high in normal view and 38 pixels high in mouseover view, cut they are all supposed to drop down (not up!) and the text should be the same height as the text in the buttons in the center of the page.

The bottom two buttons on both sides are working fine, but they weren't before I transferred them from the website file I had originally copied them to into this website file and resaved them. I can probably get them to work incorrectly by copying and pasting them back into the page, but this probably isn't necessary because the middle and upper buttons are a good enough example.

Also, the two upper buttons should not be squished in the normal view. They only started to do this when I transferred all six buttons from my original website page into this test website page.

Hi Tom,
I was wondering if it could be in the process you made your mouseovers.
How did you do this?
I did it like this- select first button image then the mouseover tab, then create, then the fill tab and selected picture and then the other image. is this the way you did it Tom?

Bruzer,

I cannot remember the exact sequence I used to make these mouseovers because I started creating this website in July of last year, and I've spent many, many hours on it since then. Besides the ten buttons I have across the top and bottom of each page, i also have ten buttons along the upper left side of each page below the top row of buttons. I didn't have any problems with any buttons until a couple of months ago when I realized that I needed to add the Social Network text and I didn't have any room for any more buttons. So I figured out a way to modify the Web Support Group buttons to make them drop downward and upward to display the Social Network text when the mouse would pass over it.

The first two I did were on the Web Support Group page, and they worked just fine. But when I started to change the same buttons on my home page is when the problems started to appear. The problem is weird because I can't figure out how to replicate it. Sometimes it will show up when I copy a button from one page to another page, but sometimes it won't. Other times it will show up when I modify an already existing button that doesn't have the dropdown (or riseup) effect, and sometimes it won't. It's totally random!

Then there's the issue of the fddshow (or whatever the name of that dialog box is that I had mentioned previously---I can't remember it right now). That started to pop up when I saved my original working site to a different name so I could experiment with these buttons without messing up my original site. It doesn't occur on my original site. (My original site is named layout1_test2.vnu and my current experimental working site is named layout1_test3.vnu.) Other than a few buttons, there are no differences between these two files, and I have no video files or other stuff that should make that dialog box pop up. Anyway, that's about all I can tell you.

Well what I did was made a button similar to yours approx. 124x20 (sm) then I made a button 124x38 changed color, now when I made the mouseover, I did as mentioned above and what it did was fit the 124x20 size. So I stretched it to fit 124x38, previewed and no problems - I put the menu ten of them on a page and still nothing -works good-talk about stumped.....If you care to try this it's up to you. but open VSD and minimize it, then open the website folder and look in there for any button images that look funny like in your examples & delete. then minimize that, and maximize VSD and save, see if it clears up any.
other then that Tom I am at a loss-Also din't go with the menu builder I mentioned cause you can only place 1 menu on a page with that. Sorry not much help Tom, maybe others wil chime in too.:|

Bruzer,

I tried what you suggested, but I didn't see any button images in my website folder that didn't look right. I did notice, though, that there seemed to be more of the button images that I'm having this problem with in there than should be. I find it very strange that I'm the first person who ever had this type of problem with mouseover buttons in VSD---especially because I'm not doing anything that is unusual. If you're stumped, and if no one else has any input on this issue, how can I find a solution to my problem?

Do you want the image files of my buttons from my website folder, or do you want the .vnu folder of my one-page test page? Remember, I'm using 5.9.4.
