I'm having a problem getting a link button to work properly with the mouseover function. I'm using VSD 5.9.4 on a Dell with XP SP3. My site hasn't been uploaded yet ('cause it's not done yet), so I don't have a URL to give you. Hopefully my explanation will be sufficient.
I have a row of buttons across the top of my site that link to different pages. They are all the same height (20 pixels) but different widths to compensate for the different text strings that serve as the button label and link. One button in the middle, however, I want to have a different height (38 pixels) with the mouseover function and two lines of text instead of one. Also, the color changes slightly with the mouseover function.
The problem I'm having is that when I preview my site in VSD (or even in IE outside of VSD), the original button size increases to be the same height as the mouseover button size (38 pixels), and the single line of text is stretched vertically to nearly the same size as two lines of text unstretched. Also, this doesn't happen to every button. I have the same row of buttons at the bottom of the page, but that button works fine. I originally thought the problem was being caused by copying and pasting this button from one page to another, but I just did a test of two buttons that I created fresh on a page with the result that the button at the bottom of the page works fine and the one at the top doesn't. I also have a page with two buttons on that both work fine. So, this is a really weird, random problem.

it would be better if we could see it I think, is there anyway you could upload to a test folder?

Bruzer,
Well, if I must, I must. Give me a few minutes to see if I can create an example using a basic test website.

Bruzer,
I tried to create an example with a basic two-page site that only has some buttons on it, but they refused to produced the same effect. Then I went back to my original site to explore some other options, and decided to do another preview to make sure the problem still occured. When I clicked on Preview, a dialog box popped up asking me about ffdshow. It then occurred to me that this dialog box started popping up about the same time I began to experience this problem. I don't know what ffdshow is for. Do you? Perhaps this is the cause of my problem.

Bruzer,
I copies the entire row of buttons from my original site (including the button that is acting weird) to my basic two-page site and did a preview, but the problem didn't occur. So I went back to my original site and did another preview, and the problem occurred again as before. Perhaps I could do a few screen captures of the row of buttons to show you what is happening.

I beleive ffdshow has to do with video codecs, I may be wrong, but how about if i give you the ftp settings, you can upload your site there so we/i can take a quick look. your menu isn't a video is it? flash? just text links? did you use the advanced text option in your menu?
It's really hard to say without seeing sorry Tom
Tom how exactly were your buttons made?

Bruzer,
Maybe this will be easier. I've created five screen shots of my buttons that show the problem occurring.
I don't have any videos on my site, and no flash. Just text links. So, I don't know why the ffdshow dialog box is popping up.
How do I upload my screen shot files?

when you type a post, at the bottom is "attach a file" this will do.....
I've tried that and clicked on preview, but nothing displayed in the preview. I guess I'll try again to see if they get uploaded. Here they are:
Here are the other two:
