Try downloading again and do reinstall.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.

Hello,

When I try to open it I get "incompatible application". I have Windows 7. I too tried to open using "run as administrator", but it still did not open. Any suggestions?

Can you elaborate a bit? Win 7 (32-bit or 64-bit/Home Premium, Professional, Ultimate/SP 1 installed or no)?

Have you tried messing with some of the other "options"? Such as running in XP SP3 Compatibility Mode?

Have you tried the rest of what Scott says here:

If you continue having problems you may also need to set the application as an exception to Windows Data Execution Prevention (DEP) feature. Normally if this is the culprit, you'll get a little bubble along the taskbar notifying you, which will allow you to set the offender as an exception.

One last option that could be the cause of this, and related to the DEP feature, is User Account Controls. This is the large window that appears in Vista asking you to "Allow" or "Deny" access to functions within programs. You can turn this off within your Control Panel > User Accounts window, along the left-hand pane.

All three options let you control your system exactly how you want and give you full access to do/run anything on the computer.

I just purchased the software and now it won't load for me either. Here is my log from my Event Viewer:

Faulting application name: vsd.exe, version: 7.0.24.0, time stamp: 0x50589047
Faulting module name: unknown, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x00000000
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x00000000
Faulting process id: 0x998
Faulting application start time: 0x01cdb00648a9c9cd
Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\CoffeeCup Software\Visual Site Designer\vsd.exe
Faulting module path: unknown
Report Id: 8663358e-1bf9-11e2-9fc9-1078d2df9815

I have Windows 7 64 Bit Home Premium with all the more current updates.

I tried running as administrator, but no luck with that either. Any suggestions?

Hiya Jeremiah,

Have you tried all the rest of the suggestions in this thread? If not please try some more of them as there's a handful of different posts on what to try in this thread alone. If you still cannot get it to work I would suggest opening a support ticket to have the CC team help you as the forums have pretty much killed this subject quite well already so if you haven't found it in the forums, then asking CC support to help would be the next step. Good luck with it and let us know here what you found out when you get it fixed please :)

Hi Jo Ann!

Thank you for your super fast response! I had used Coffee Cup in the past, which was why I wanted to buy it. We used it, at a friend's house, to build our home business website: http://www.detroitchinchillas.com/

I did try everything listed in the other posts, but no luck. I'm going to restart the system now, to see if maybe turning off DEP will make a difference after that. If not, I'll send in a support ticket!

Thanks again for your speedy response! :)

Yup! After turning off DEP and rebooting did the trick! Thanks! :)

I didn't see any window pop up to turn off DEP in Windows 7, so I had to look them up. Here are the instructions for anyone else who comes across this with the same problem.

Data Execution Prevention (DEP) is a security feature that helps prevent damage from viruses and other security threats by monitoring your programs to make sure they use system memory safely.

If you choose to protect all programs, you can still turn off DEP for individual programs. If you suspect that a program does not run correctly when DEP is turned on, check for a DEP-compatible version of the program or an update from the software publisher before you change any DEP settings.

Open System by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, and then clicking System.

Click Advanced System Settings. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

Under Performance, click Settings.

Click the Data Execution Prevention tab, and then click Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select.

Add the vsd.exe to the list. Mine was found in C:\Program Files (x86)\CoffeeCup Software\Visual Site Designer

I am having an issue where the VSD program stops working after the Tip of the Day box appears.

I have tried all of the fixes below and and it still freezes after the tips box. I am running Windows 7.

Thank you for any help.

I would try reinstalling. Make sure you install to the default location and set to run as admin.

Eric,

Thank you. I reinstalled several times, and am running as admin. VSD works fine on my other notebook, so this is unreal.

Any other Windows setting you can think to change?

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
