Well I have been bragging on CoffeeCup and now Visual Site Designer is crashing all the time.
Every time I open a website and start to do something it crashes and closes.
I installed it again without uninstalling it and it still did it. I started to put this thread on here when I decided to go back and uninstall Visual Site Designer and its modules and reinstall it then.
It is still crashing.
Any thoughts?

Hi Doc,
Did it crash on you while saving? or just as you placed an object on your page. I don't recall but are you running Vista?
Search the forums here to see if any of the threads apply to you. Some examples are:

I am on Windows XP and it crashed when I placed a picture in it.
I rarely shut my computer down - so I shut it down for 24 hours
(almost had to go to the hospital) lol
Now its running fine.
Thanks for the threads, they were helpful.

Consider youself lucky DOC. At least you can still access your website. My software died without warning. I can't access my website AT ALL. I've spent countless hours building and tweaking it and now I'm stuck. I'v spent the past three days trying to get assistance and all I got was the same useless rehashed response. I've been patient up until now because they say they dont like "whiners and complainers". Now I have to start over from scratch. I'm done with coffeecup. To answer your question. It may or may not help, but I've found that being online at the same time as using the software causes it to crash more often. I had the same problem at first. Also make small changes and save after each one. Making several changes and trying to save can cause alot of problems as well. Good luck to you. You will need it.

That honestly sounds more like a Windows issue than CC. I find that if I have 2 or more programs (doesn't seem to matter which ones, and not only CC) that my computer crashes at least one of them, or the internet connection itself.
Your advice about saving often is very good advice, regardless of the programs you work with. This used to be part of Computers 101, as did backing up your work. Don't know when it stopped being important.

Hi...how are you? What's up?
I see that this is your very first post in the forum, so WELCOME!
Now, I'm a bit confused here. I've used CC software for many years, and never felt there was a problem with the level of customer care and help. Of course, you are going to get some form of "rehashed response". It would be a miracle if anyone could just fix your problem on the very first try without asking a few common questions and some background info on 'how did it happen', 'does it happen every time', 'can you reproduce it on another computer' and such canned questions to get thing started.
1 post is not 'whining' or 'complaining'.
Do you have a support ticket?
Do you know where to view your reponses to it?
3 days if hardly a fair waiting time for a company to fugure out what is causing an issue and manage to fix it for you. Try getting a response from Microsoft or any major manufacturer in less time?
You say you can't access your website at all. Did you try using Windows explorer to view that folder and see if your files are there?
If you are using Vista, is there a chance that Vista messed up and put your files into a virtual folder under "compatability mode"?
What I'm getting at is that there are several factors that can come into play. Crashes can happen, but I have not experienced that problem after years of using CoffeeCup software, so hang in there. Don't give up, there are free upgrades for life (if using registered software) so there's always a chance that the next version will address any issues you are having.
There are many volunteers in this forum that are willing to try to help you and others with any issues you have, so just ask.

You should pass this info onto support. This is just a user forum.
Have you tried running something like Ad-Aware (or your favorite anti-mal-ware program)? And made sure your anti-virus program is up-to-date?
There are a whole bunch of free (or cheap or well-worth-the-money) programs available to help one perform all kinds of housekeeping on one's wonderful PC compatible computers. Things like registry re-org and de-frag. I run Registry-Booster to find and fix all manner of broken links and stuff.
I am not suggesting that these things will stop VSD from crashing, but they might speed things up a bit.

I have an inferiority complex - but it is not a very good one.
I love VSD but it crashes on me when I trying it edit text. Clicking on the
blue box trying to get in there to change text. Alot of times its actually button text and I'm trying to get in there with the Text tool. Too many clicks without a response equals crash. Crashes alot less often now since I figured this out but what I do is SAVE OFTEN : )
