I had this issue too.. in fact I am in the process of rebuilding my site from scratch because of it...

This time however, I have a more logical file structure... and I also have a notepad file with the exact path of the main VSD files... which I back up to a seocnd drive.. This way if I have have another HD crash and have to restore my VSD files so that I can update/edit my site... I wont have these issues. It is a hard lesson though... Perhaps this flaw in VSD can be pointed out in the instructions so that people can take appropriate steps in the beginning... Forewarned is forearmed. While it is a frustrating "feature" it certainly isn't a deal breaker for someone who does not know HTML.

Looks like I lost my Ambassador status - Bruzer gets his wish.

I'll continue to promote Coffeecup products regardless. Just thought some people could use some of the other software that I use personally as alternatives to get them past hard times.

If any admins are reading, feel free to ditch my earlier post if it is offensive.

Dang Dave, I don't get man...I mean you risk 'burning' your username/status on a forum, no aff links, do you think those guys need more IM marketing?? What did they give you in return? Didn't you feel like it would bother CC not only promoting software, but in CC's niche(web design)? Your lucky as most forums would have banned you on the spot. I would be thankful about the outcome and file this under 'If I want to get banned from a forum, this is what I do..."

The 90 Sec link I picked up from another site because it was short, the artisteer link is direct, the other two links are to a site I now own and one I am working on.

The two software packages I linked to are tools I literally use daily in conjunction with, or alternative to VSD and other Coffeecup software and were recommended to be helpful. Others here have mentioned other software packages and linked to them such as Dreamweaver, Flash, Photoshop, other shopping carts etc., although I guess I have no idea how they may have been handled for doing so.

I believe I have posted plenty of helpful comments and tips otherwise on this forum that I might have thought would carry some weight...maybe give me the benefit of the doubt - one or two that I know have helped a great many VSD users.

It would have been nice to get some kind of notice, but whatever. No bitterness. It's just a forum. Lesson learned.

I will proffer my apologies one last time to any offended by my post(s) - I have already given CC the go ahead to delete the post, not that they require my consent, obviously.

Hi DAve ,
I appologize for jumping down your posts, but it started with slamming CC and that is a no-no, then when sombody else joins in and starts naming off other sources to use, what would you think, to me it was another slamming.
Sure we all appreciate everyone's help here and suggestions, and I thought there was a certain place in the forum where you name your sites and programs used, anyway I thought you were spamming and if that was not the intent then I'm sorry as well. Hec we all have used other software we just try to keep the forum to CC software.:)

Hey, Bruzer - I appreciate the apology, but you don't owe me one. My only complaint might be my demotion from Ambassador status without any apparent regard to my history here, or even a warning beforehand. But as I mentioned earlier, it is of no major concern to me.

I will contiinue to recommend VSD and other CC products where I believe them to be of benefit to others.

I will also continue to recommend other software products under those same guidelines - just maybe not here any more...

I personally disagree that CC was slammed here - This thread started with a user of VSD trying to warn people about a problem he was having with the software, which was dealt with rather well by members of the community.

Regardless, My post did have a spammy ring to it... :) However, on other posts in the past that I have made where I have touted CC software and all of it's benefits, you will also notice perhaps a similar tone...

As I mentioned, though, I have no issue with anyone's interpretation of my posts. My own mindset regarding competitive products and software are that if a solution exists, and I am here to help, then I should indeed help.

It's not that I don't love VSD - because I do - it's just that I also love other software as well. I like what CC has done with their software, but there are other software packages out there that provide a pretty good point of reference for a developer to compare to (hence my comment to CC about checking out the competing packages at the end of my post).

My intent was to recommend an ADDITIONAL set of tools to help cover any territory that VSD lacks the ability to, and to let CC know that they have competition that they can learn from - hopefully with the end result of them comparing with VSD and maybe spurring some further development, which in the long run would benefit us all.

CC and others can either take the info and put it to good use, or get upset, complain, subsequently dish out punishments, and continue using /developing software in a vacuum. I have already seen benefits from the info personally, so it makes no difference to me. How anyone else reacts to this information is up to them. Take it or leave it.

All the above being said - it is also true that I am a guest in CC's house while commenting in this forum. My post lacked a certain amount of tact and obviously has come across as an attack to some.

I will try to be more attentive to the more sensitive amongst you all in the future to prevent further misunderstandings.

Who knows, maybe I will once again graduate from being a "Trial User" in time. :D
